2024 NFL Draft Outlook

Roman Wilson (WR – Michigan)

A thin college slot receiver who gets up to speed quickly. He is fast enough to create separation when crossing over the middle of the field and offers a reliable pair of hands with good flexibility and body control. His lack of functional strength can impact his routes at times and will probably struggle to win against big, physical defenders in man coverage at the next level. Still, Wilson could end up earning his quarterback’s trust and contribute as a team’s third or fourth receiver. For that reason, he stands a pretty good shot of coming off the board sometime in the middle rounds.

J.J. McCarthy (QB – Michigan)

A very advanced quarterback prospect who’s helped Michigan dominate college football over the past two years. He didn’t have to throw the ball as much as some of the other top prospects, but he was asked to work through progressions and make pro-style throws more often than most of his peers. Consequently, his learning curve at the pro level should be a bit gentler than even some of the more experienced passers in the class. Combination of fundamentals, patience, decision-making, velocity, and toughness should make him a first-round pick, probably as the third or fourth passer off the board on draft day.

Zak Zinter (OG – Michigan)

A big, tough, smart and experienced gap-scheme guard who plays with the polish and consistency you’d expect. He should be one of the top guards off the board, offering a relatively known quantity with a high floor. May not be the most athletic interior option in the class, which may reduce his appeal to some teams with zone-heavy offenses, but is capable of executing some climbing or pulling assignments. Looks like a future starter.
