Tuesday’s NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions: Lauri Markkanen, P.J. Washington, Chet Holmgren (2/27)

Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (2/27)

Lauri Markkanen (F – UTA): 1.5 steals + blocks

Markkanen finally had a night with two StOcks against the Spurs on Sunday, which means we should be blessed with this 1.5 line for at least another two weeks. The multiplier is not where it should be for someone who just had three StOcks, but if you are a regular reader of this column, you know that we don’t chase or shy away from multipliers. Lauri has failed to hit two StOcks in 20 of his last 24 games and in 11 straight before Sunday’s aberration. This is a total to keep on your favorites list until Markkanen convinces us that it is no longer a value. Light up the Less on Lauri for Tuesday night.

Pick: Less

P.J. Washington (F/C – DAL): 4.5 rebounds

Washington has recorded five or more rebounds in each of his last 10 games and is averaging 5.6 rebounds per game as a member of the Mavericks. He has played 29.8 minutes per night for Dallas and is a solid value at 4.5, at least for the time being. Ride with 4.5 until Washington starts ceding minutes to the Mavericks’ other bigs. Washington has already proven that he can be an impact player in the league, so he should get even more run once his shot starts falling more consistently. Press the More on P.J. for Tuesday night basketball.

Pick: More

Chet Holmgren (F/C – OKC): 1.5 threes

There were more than a few options with similar probabilities, so I opted to include one of the brightest young stars in the NBA in this column for the first time this season. Holmgren has been excellent in his ‘rookie’ season, putting up averages of 17.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game. He has drained 1.8 threes per game at an exciting .403 clip. Chet has dropped two or more threes in each of his last three games and in eight of his last 10. He drained five deep balls on the Rockets on Sunday. Clap the More on Chet for Tuesday night.

Pick: More

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
