Geno Smith and Seahawks agree to restructured contract
The Seahawks and QB Geno Smith have agreed to a restructured contract that will free up $4.8 million in cap space.

Fantasy Impact

Smith will receive his $9.6 million roster bonus as a signing bonus. The veteran is expected to remain the starter for the 2024 season under new head coach Mike Macdonald.

Derek Carr restructures contract for 2024
Derek Carr has restructured his contract with the New Orleans Saints as they look for ways to get under the salary cap. The move is expected to save the team $23 million.

Fantasy Impact

The Saints are among the top teams in terms of being over the salary cap. Thankfully, Carr taking a large chunk of his money as a signing bonus gives them more room to work. As for his fantasy value, Carr is all but locked in as their starter for the next several years, since releasing him would be a massive dead cap hit and it’s unlikely he will be traded with the size of contract he has. He’ll likely be a QB2 like he has been for his entire career, steady enough to start in 2QB and stream in 1QB formats, but not worth rostering in single QB formats unless it is a deep league.

Tee Higgins will have the franchise tag placed on him
The Bengals have informed Tee Higgins they will be placing the franchise tag on him.

Fantasy Impact

The franchise tag number is expected to be around $21.8M, fully guaranteed for Higgins. It is also possible the two sides comes to an agreement on a long-term extension at some point but for now, Higgins and the Bengals will run it back for at least one more season.
