Winston is set to enter free agency after spending the past four seasons with the Saints. He could potentially look to compete for a starting role with a different team, but it appears he is happy in his backup role in New Orleans.

Geno Smith to remain on Seahawks roster, has contract guaranteed
Geno Smith, who has $12.7 million in his contract that becomes fully-guaranteed on Friday, was informed today that he will remain on the roster through this week.

This was expected to be the case for Smith and the Seahawks. It is still possible Seattle drafts a quarterback under new coach Mike Macdonald, but Smith should remain the starter next season as they look to get back to the playoffs under a new coaching staff.

Jimmy Garoppolo expected to be released in March
The Raiders are expected to release Jimmy Garoppolo before the fifth day of the new league year in mid-March, when he would earn an $11.25 million roster bonus.

It was also reported on Friday that Garoppolo is being suspended two games for violating the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Substances Policy. He was benched for rookie Aidan O’Connell last year and will now look to land with a new team this offseason.
