Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft: 10-Team, Category (2024)

Strategy

I started this mock draft with an emphasis on offense by pairing multiple aces. I then looked to lock up as many saves as I could while adding to my offensive flexibility. In a 10-team league, you can wait a little more on pitching so I was willing to wait after getting my two aces in George Kirby and Zac Gallen. Later I looked for a mix of upside in my starters with a mix of safety, grabbing guys like Carlos Rodon and Bryce Miller for the upside and Michael Wacha and John Means for the floor. Remember, you will stream a lot of those later starters so it is ok to draft guys that may not be on your roster for long if they struggle early. Here is a pick-by-pick look at my 10-team categories mock draft:

Post Mock Analysis

I think that I might have waited a little too long in the middle of my pitching rotation. If I had added another starter in the 11th round and maybe waited a bit more on the first catcher, I think my ratios would have looked a little better. The catcher position is really deep even in a two catcher league especially when you are in a 10-team league.

I also would have liked a better RP2. Diaz is fine but he is a bit riskier than David Bednar and Jordan Romano who went a round earlier. Overall, I like this draft enough that I think I could make it work by being active on the waiver wire as you need to be in shallow leagues like this.
