Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/10)
Nikola Jokic (C – DEN): 0.5 double-doubles
Jokic remains one of the elite players in the NBA but has shockingly failed to record a double double in two straight games. This makes it four times in the last 30 days that Jokic failed to record at least 10 and 10. For a player on nightly triple double watch who averages 11.9 rebounds per game, the three games without 10 or more boards is alarming. With that said, the ‘outage’ is the only reason we can even see the Jokic double double total, which used to expire within hours of being posted. Despite the relative struggles on the boards, Jokic is an excellent bet to record a double double against a Utah Jazz team he dropped a triple double on earlier this season. Utah allows 13.07 rebounds per game to the center position. Jab the More on Jokic for Wednesday night.
Pick: More
Domantas Sabonis (C – SAC): 0.5 double doubles
The King of double doubles has a double double in 19 straight games, with eight of them being triple doubles. He has surpassed Nikola Jokic as the best double double play whenever available and should be locked the day before any Kings game. The multiplier on this one is low, so there is some expiry threat here, especially with Jokic at a relatively high multiplier due to the aforementioned outage. Domantas has recorded a double double in 32 of his 36 games played this season (88.8 percent). Tonight, Sabonis faces off against a Hornets team relinquishing the second most rebounds per game to the center position at 17.18 per contest. Lock in the More on Sabonis for Wednesday night.
Pick: More
Immanuel Quickley (G – TOR): 4.5 assists
I had both IQ assists and RJ points earmarked prior to the line drops, but the 4.5 assists is too hard to pass up. This is a total to ride with until it gets increased. Quickley has been a revelation for a suddenly competitive Raptors team and has recorded 28 assists over his last four games, with at least five assists in each. The Clippers allow 7.85 assists per game to the point guard position. Rap the More on IQ for Wednesday night’s slate.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
