Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/9)
RJ Barrett (G/F – TOR): 17.5 points
RJ exploded on Sunday night, going off with 37 points, six rebounds, and six assists. He was elite from the field, draining 13 of 20 shots and going 5/8 from deep. RJ seems to have found a comfort level in the offense after taking just eight shots in the previous game. He should be good for at least 16 to 18 most nights going forward, but his streakiness as a shooter means he is playing with about a 20 point band. Tonight, he’ll face off against a Lakers team allowing 21.78 points per game to the shooting guard position. As long as RJ avoids a sub .430 night from the field, the 18 points required for this total will be well within his reach. Bump the More on Barrett for Tuesday night.
Pick: More
Domantas Sabonis (C – SAC): 0.5 double doubles
Mr. Double Double. Sabonis continues to rack up the double doubles, making this a total to seek out the day before a Kings game in order to secure the highest potential multiplier and to avoid the inevitable expirations that are soon to follow a player who has been just as consistent as Nikola Jokic in terms of putting at least 10 and 10 on the board. Domantas has recorded a double double in 31 of 35 games this season, making this an automatic key whenever available. He has 18 straight double doubles with seven triple doubles sprinkled in. Tonight, he will face off against a Pistons team allowing 14.24 rebounds per game to the center position. Dap the More on Domantas for Tuesday night.
Pick: More
Immanuel Quickley (G – TOR): 4.5 assists
IQ has settled nicely into the point guard role for the Raptors, and as former Kentucky teammate Tyrese Maxey suggested, Quickley is going to make himself a lot of money if he can keep up his production. IQ has racked up 23 total assists over his last three games, hitting at least five in each. He is on ball enough to hit at least five for the rest of the season, with his 10 assists on Sunday highlighting his true upside as a passer. Los Angeles has surrendered 8.93 assists per game to the point guard position, making this a very attractive play. Rap the More on Quickley for Tuesday night’s slate.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
