NHL DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: Tuesday (1/2)

NHL DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: Tuesday (1/2)

We have a stacked night of hockey tonight, as 26 teams hit the ice in the NHL. As I do on Tuesdays, I’m heading the DFS route, where I’ve compiled this lineup below. This roster fits the criteria for the classic $50,000 salary contests at DraftKings. I’ve also listed each player’s price at FanDuel.

Let’s dive into who I believe will have a big night on the ice!

Today’s NHL DFS Picks & Analysis

The lineup below is based on DraftKings, but FanDuel prices are also listed.

C1: Josh Norris (OTT) | $5,300 DK, $6,600 FD

The Senators make the trip out west tonight to take on the Canucks. The oddsmakers are expecting a ton of goals here, setting the total at 6.5 with heavy juice (-130) to the over. That’s why I’ll play three players from this game (one Senator and two Canucks).

First is Josh Norris, who currently has 20 points on 12 goals and eight assists. The centerman has been held off the scoresheet in his last three games but amassed seven points (5G, 2A) in the five games prior. Considering this will be a back-and-forth barnburner, I think Norris has his hand in a goal tonight.

C2: Charlie Coyle (BOS) | $4,800 DK, $6,300 FD

Boston comes into tonight’s game against Columbus, riding a three-game win streak. They should pound the Jackets tonight, as they’re a -220 moneyline favorite. I’ll take Charlie Coyle tonight as a moderately-priced centerman. He’s third on the B’s in scoring, racking up 26 points (13G, 13A). I anticipate Coyle making his way into the scoring column tonight against this Columbus side that’s 29th defensively (3.39 GAA).

W1: Jason Robertson (DAL) | $6,900 DK, $8,400 FD

The Stars are heating up, and they’ll have another favorable matchup against the mediocre Canadiens. The Habs are 23rd defensively, allowing 3.22 goals per game. On the flip side, the Stars just scored 13 goals on the Blackhawks in their last two games. Jason Robertson added four points (4A) over the two-game sample, and he’s currently riding a six-game point streak (2G, 7A). The winger leads the team in both points (11G, 25A) and SOG (101). Look for Robertson to light the lamp tonight.

W2: Andrei Kuzmenko (VAN) | $4,000 DK, $4,600 FD

The second player I’ll ride with in tonight’s Sens/Canucks game is Andrei Kuzmenko. The winger enters this game ranked seventh on Vancouver in scoring, adding 19 points (8G, 11A). I want to target him mainly because of his power play ability. He has three goals and four assists on the man advantage, and this Canucks side will take on the worst PK in the league tonight. The Senators’ PK has been successful just 72.07% of the time.

W3: Luke Evangelista (NSH) | $3,200 DK, $4,400 FD

I have a pair of Predators on my roster tonight as they square off against the lowly Blackhawks. First up is Luke Evangelista, who I think is a great depth option. He enters tonight’s divisional clash with 17 points courtesy of five goals and 12 helpers. Mainly, I like him for the matchup against Chicago. They’re 31st offensively, allowing 3.61 goals per game. They’ve been especially shaky recently, where the Hawks have allowed 13 goals in their last two games.

D1: Roman Josi (NSH) | $6,800 DK, $8,200 FD

Up next is Evangelista’s teammate, Roman Josi. I’m splurging on Josi tonight, as I expect him to have a monster game. The point man is second on the team in SOG (122), and he’s leading the way in ice time at 24:34 TOI/G. He’s up to 29 points (8G, 21A), which is third on the team. 14 of those points have come on the power play (4G, 10A), and they’ll have a great matchup against Chicago’s 27th-ranked PK (74.78%).

D2: Filip Hronek (VAN) | $4,700 DK, $5,700 FD

I’m not looking to pay Quinn Hughes prices, so I’ll play Filip Hronek as my second defenseman. As mentioned above, Vancouver’s power play should feast tonight. Hronek has been an integral part of that unit, putting up nine points (2G, 7A) on the power play. He’s now up to fifth on the team in scoring (2G, 27A). The Canucks should light the lamp plenty of times tonight against the Senators, who are 30th defensively (3.44 GAA).

G: Marc-Andre Fleury (MIN) | $8,000 DK, $7,600 FD

Marc-Andre Fleury has been finding his footing in-net. In five December starts, he went 3-2-0 with a 2.66 GAA and .919 SV%. The Wild host the Flames tonight, and they’ve been one of the worst offenses in the league. They’re just 21st in scoring (3.0 GPG) and 29th on the power play (12.07%). This is a great opportunity for Fleury to turn in a big outing in the crease.

UTIL: Roope Hintz (C – DAL) | $6,200 DK, $7,400 FD

I’ll stack Roope Hintz to go along with Robertson. The centerman is third on the team in scoring (15G, 18A) and ranks second in SOG (80). Hintz scored four goals in the two games against Chicago, and he’s also riding a six-game point streak (5G, 3A). Dallas should have a field day against this Montreal squad that’s 31st on the PK (72.58%).
