Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice: Brandon Miller, Kelly Oubre Jr., Marvin Bagley III, Trey Murphy III

What a week of NBA basketball. Joel Embiid dropped 70 points against the Spurs on the same night that Karl-Anthony Towns scored 62 against Charlotte. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have combined for 261 points in their last four games.

On the trade market, Terry Rozier was dealt to the Heat while rumors swirling around Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine, and others are continuing to evolve. It’s an exciting time for NBA fans and fantasy basketball players alike.

Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 14)

Trade For

Brandon Miller (SF,SG – CHA)

Miller is in the midst of the best four-game stretch in his young career, having strung together four 20-point outings on scorching efficiency. Charlotte’s trading of Rozier has freed up a ton of on-ball opportunities for the second-overall pick in last year’s draft. For the rest of the season, look for LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Miller to take the lion’s share of the offensive responsibility as they try to mesh as a young unit going forward.

Trade Away

Kelly Oubre Jr. (PF,SF – PHI)

Oubre started the season on a torrid streak, and, as expected, he’s cooled down since. As of late, though, he disappears in the Sixers’ offense far too often to be counted on as a fantasy asset. Despite De’Anthony Melton and Robert Covington missing the last two weeks and Marcus Morris Sr. being in and out of the lineup, Oubre hasn’t been able to find any consistency. When Oubre isn’t manning the dunker’s spot, he’s shooting off the catch unlike his Charlotte days when he was shooting from everywhere.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Malcolm Brogdon, Miles Bridges, Jonathan Kuminga

Trade For

Marvin Bagley III (PF,C – WAS)

It’d be a stretch to say that Bagley is revitalizing his career, but he’s had a great first five games in Washington. In 27 minutes per game, the former Duke star is averaging 17.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 59.6% shooting. For reference, Bagley’s career averages are 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 59.2% shooting. He’ll likely split big man minutes with Daniel Gafford, who’s having his best season, for the rest of the year. If you’re in need of some forward or center depth, Bagley is a solid get.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Paul Reed, Naz Reid, Grant Williams

Trade Away

Trey Murphy III (PF,SF,SG – NOR)

Murphy may still be shaking off rust following the meniscus injury that kept him out for over a month to start the season. If you remember how the Virginia product ended last year, then you likely expected Murphy to build on his impressive sophomore season. However, he just hasn’t been able to find a groove in 2024.

While it equates to wins, New Orleans’ absurd wing depth is keeping Murphy from his fantasy ceiling. Players like Brandon Ingram, Herbert Jones, Jordan Hawkins, Naji Marshall, Larry Nance Jr., and Dyson Daniels are all similar in size to Murphy. If Murphy can’t break away from this group with his shooting prowess, then his ceiling is severely capped.
