We are back with my second fantasy baseball mock draft of the offseason via the FantasyPros Draft Wizard mock draft simulator.
My last mock draft was with an early pick. This mock will be with a late pick (1.11 draft spot). I once again used most of the default settings to conduct a 12-team, 20-round snake draft with the standard five-by-five rotisserie categories. Below we dive into a few notable early-round picks.
12-Team Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft Results
Below is a pick-by-pick look at how this mock draft went. The results can be viewed here.
Rounds 1 & 2
- 1.11: Freddie Freeman (1B – LAD)
- 2.02: Trea Turner (SS – PHI)
It can sometimes be tough to draft at the turn simply because you’re usually considering several different players in that No. 11-14 range. I elected to draft two infielders here, but I also considered Gerrit Cole.
Rounds 3-6
- 3.11: Luis Castillo (SP – SEA)
- 4.02: Adolis Garcia (OF – TEX)
- 5.11 Matt McLain (2B, SS – CIN)
- 6.02: Logan Webb (SP – SF)
In this group, I grabbed a couple of aces in Castillo and Webb to go along with the upside of McLain and Garcia to anchor my outfield group. McLain has the chance to take a huge step forward this season following the flashes he showed last year. He may even provide second- or third-round value by the end of the season.
I’m not against waiting on pitchers as there is value to be had late, but try to grab at least two starters in the first five or six rounds who can be relied upon all season.
