Dynasty Trade Advice: Rashee Rice, Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans (2024 Fantasy Football)

The 2023 fantasy football season has ended, but now is no time to rest if you’re a fantasy manager who plays in dynasty leagues. Player values can swing wildly over the next few months between free agency and the NFL Draft, so hitting the trade market in your leagues early in the offseason can often be fruitful if you have specific players you’re targeting. Let’s dive into the players I’m currently looking to buy in dynasty leagues with the fantasy offseason upon us.

Dynasty Fantasy Football Players to Buy

Rashee Rice (WR – KC)

Rashee Rice has quietly had a very impressive rookie season for the Kansas City Chiefs. While much has been made about the lack of receiving weapons for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense, Rice has over 900 receiving yards going into week 18 with a chance to eclipse 1,000 yards on the season as a rookie. Even when the Chiefs inevitably add another pass-catching weapon in the offseason, I expect Rice to be a focal point of the Chiefs’ offense moving forward. He’s been more productive than every other rookie wide receiver in 2023 aside from Puka Nacua but is consistently valued less than some of his peers.

He is often valued as a lower-end WR2 but has the ceiling for much more. He’s a player who should see his value grow throughout the offseason when others catch up to just how productive he was.

While it’d be ideal to acquire him for less, I’d still be on board with trading for him if the cost was a late 2024 first-round pick.

Baker Mayfield (QB – TB)

No one wants to discuss it, but Baker Mayfield has quietly had a career year in Tampa Bay. He’s already set career highs in passing yards and touchdowns with a game to go for the Buccaneers. It’d be a shock if the Buccaneers did not come to terms with Mayfield on a short-term extension to keep him with the team for the next few seasons while they figure out their quarterback of future plans.

The encouraging thing about that is how we saw this year play out. He’d still have Rachaad White and Chris Godwin, and the safe money would be on the team finding a way to retain longtime wide receiver Mike Evans.

Mayfield gets treated like an afterthought in a lot of leagues. Still, in superflex formats, he should once again be treated like a high-end QB2 next season if he sticks in Tampa Bay, and it’s worth kicking the tires on buying cheap if the current manager who rosters him is looking more toward rebuilding.
