Dynasty Rookie Draft Prospects
A decisive, physical runner who gets up to speed quickly and can contribute as a receiver and kick returner. He may not have quite the same physical or athletic tools as some of the other backs in the class, and wasn’t able to replicate his sophomore-year success as a junior, but teams could fall in love with his competitiveness and toughness. Looks like he’ll probably be more of a mid-round selection. Would probably function best in a zone-based scheme.
A fast, agile back with good burst and excellent open-field running skills, he functioned as a workhorse for the Jayhawks but might be more of a change-of-pace back at the next level, as he may struggle to grind out tough yardage between the tackles as a pro. Ran a relatively higher amount of gap concepts in school, but might be better-suited to a zone-blocking scheme where he’s able to stretch defenses out and cut upfield when he sees daylight. Probably more of a mid-round option.
Donovan Edwards (RB – Michigan)
A smooth runner who has the patience and vision to stretch out the defense laterally and execute one-cut concepts, but who doesn’t run with the power and competitiveness you’d expect given his size. Following a very disappointing junior campaign, his stock has probably fallen somewhat considerably, but could still end up coming off the board around the mid-rounds because of his natural, versatile receiving skills. Will likely begin his career as a passing-game specialist and member of a running back rotation.
