Dynasty Rookie Draft Prospects

MarShawn Lloyd (RB – USC)

A very good natural runner who has the patience, vision, quickness, burst and elusiveness to succeed at the next level, but whose value on passing downs is less clear at this point. Consequently, could be on the fringe of the second and third days, as teams may view him as a member of a running back rotation, similar to what his role has been in college so far.

Ray Davis (RB – Kentucky)

One of the most polished, pro-ready backs in the class, he has done it all at the college level, and should be able to step right into a running back rotation, or even potentially function as a feature back, given his frame, vision, strength, and passing-down experience. Age, tread, and the lack of elite speed and explosiveness may cause him to slip into the mid-rounds, but I’m relatively higher on him, and believe he could ultimately outperform some of the more heralded backs in the class.

Audric Estimé (RB – Notre Dame)

Gap teams that want a no-nonsense power back with a rocked-up frame need look no further. He offers decisive running on gap concepts between the tackles, running behind his pads with a low center of gravity, a punishing style, and excellent leg drive and determination to finish his runs. Although his passing-down duties weren’t the most extensive in school, he’s shown himself to have a reliable pair of hands and an anchor strong enough to hold up in pass pro. Looks like he’ll probably be an early third-day pick who can step right in and offer some value early in his career.

Bucky Irving (RB – Oregon)

A classic jitterbug type with probably the best agility in this year’s class, he’s established himself as a major part of Oregon’s offense, combining decisiveness between the tackles with creativity on lateral rushing attempts and value in the screen game. Lack ideal size, power, and pass-blocking chops means he’ll almost certainly be part of a running-back rotation, but teams looking for a creative spark on offense will be interested. Oregon actually runs a lot of gap concepts, but would probably be best on outside zone plays at the next level.
