It’s a huge day in sports across the world, and that includes a massive 12-game slate in the NHL. From a betting perspective, there are a ton of different ways to get in on the action.
I’m heading the DFS route today, where I’ve locked in this nine-man unit in a Classic DraftKings $50,000 Salary competition. It’s worth noting that this specific contest features only the nine games starting at (or after) 7:00 p.m. ET.
Let’s check out who should have a big night on the ice!
Today’s NHL DFS Picks & Analysis
Lineup below is based on DraftKings, but FanDuel prices are also listed.
C1: Connor Bedard ($6,900 DK, $6,900 FD)
One of the games that I’m targeting tonight is the Blues vs. Blackhawks. This is one of seven games with a total of 6.5 goals, meaning the oddsmakers are expecting quite a bit of scoring.

I’ll start with the Calder Trophy frontrunner (-250) Connor Bedard. The rookie’s off to a great start in his career, registering 11 goals and 10 assists. That leads the Blackhawks this year. His task is to score against a St. Louis team that has conceded 20 goals in its last five games (4.0 GAA). They’re 30th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (3.48) and 28th in high-danger shots against (107) this season.
I loaded up on three Sabres tonight as they return home to host the underwhelming Canadiens. The first is centerman Mittelstadt. At just $4,400, it only makes sense to slide him in our lineup. He leads Buffalo in scoring this season with six goals and 16 helpers. It’s confirmed that the Habs will go with Cayden Primeau in net, and he comes in at 2-3-0 with a 3.72 GAA and .886 SV%. This highly-touted Sabres offense should find plenty of success tonight.
The anchor on my lineup tonight is Panarin. The star winger is on fire this season, amassing 37 points on 16 tallies and 21 assists. The Rangers square off against a Capitals team that’s ranked 27th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (3.38), while also allowing the ninth-most high-danger shots against (103). I think Panarin could have a monster night in the nation’s capital.
Building on the Bedard section, we should also see plenty of scoring action from the Blues tonight. Chicago comes into tonight’s game ranked 31st in expected goals against per 60 minutes (3.49), and they’re tied with St. Louis in high-danger shots against, at 28th (107). This seems like an opportune time to lock in Buchnevich, who is second on the team in scoring (9G, 11A). He’s also third on the team in SOG (60). I think there’s a good chance Buchnevich will light the lamp tonight.
W3: Kevin Hayes ($3,300 DK, $4,100 FD)
The final player from the Blues/Hawks game that I’ll play is Hayes. The crafty veteran makes a great depth option as he enters this divisional clash with 12 points (6G, 6A). Not only are the Blackhawks bad in the “expected GAA” category, but they’re also 31st in actual goals against per game (3.36).
D1: Adam Fox ($5,600 DK, $7,200 FD)
Special teams have not been kind to Washington this season as they’re still dead last on the power play (8.96%) while sitting at 20th on the penalty kill (77.78%). It feels like a great spot to lock in Fox, who has seen 12 of his points (3G, 9A) come on the man advantage. He’s up to 16 points on the season (3G, 13A), which leads New York D-men. Let’s ride with Fox in this favorable matchup.
D2: Owen Power ($3,700 DK, $4,900 FD)
Power (1G, 11A) trails only Rasmus Dahlin (6G, 15A) in scoring among Buffalo defensemen. Dahlin’s listed as day-to-day, so if he isn’t at full health, Power should get the opportunity to step up and contribute. Power has some power play experience as he has added a pair of apples on the man advantage. With this low price, it’s worth a shot to play him against a pedestrian Habs club.
G: Alex Lyon ($7,800 DK, $7,700 FD)
As for our goaltending tonight, I’m riding with Lyon. It’s confirmed that he’ll handle the netminding, and he has been lights out through five starts with Detroit. Lyon comes into tonight’s game at 4-1-0 with a 1.61 GAA and .947 SV%. He’ll be tasked with shutting down an Ottawa team that’s 25th in expected goals per 60 minutes (2.88) and 23rd on the power play (17.24%). I think he’ll have a big night in front of his home crowd.
UTIL: Dylan Cozens ($4,100 DK, $5,000 FD)
The final Sabre that I’ll roll with tonight is Cozens. The centerman is putting together a decent season, adding four goals and nine assists. Four of those points (1G, 3A) have come on the power play, and the Sabres will take on a Canadiens team that’s just 30th on the PK (72.63%). They’re also 30th in high-danger shots against (109) this season. Let’s lock in Cozens as our util-man tonight.
