Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets (Week 15)

Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books. Hopefully, your team pulled out the victory. However, the only easy win was last week’s win. So, let’s look at the top streaming quarterback options for Week 15.

All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN 1QB leagues and under 25% in superflex leagues.

Streaming Targets in 1QB Leagues

Matthew Stafford (LAR) vs. Washington Commanders (33.5% Rostered)

For the second consecutive week, the veteran quarterback makes the streamers list. Despite facing an elite Baltimore Ravens pass defense in Week 13, Stafford was outstanding. The Ravens had held quarterbacks to only 11.8 fantasy points per game before last week’s matchup, the fewest in the NFL. They had surrendered more than 16.2 fantasy points to quarterbacks only twice before giving up 23.7 to Stafford on Sunday. The former No. 1 overall pick has been on fire since his first game back from a thumb injury.

Over the past three weeks, Stafford has averaged 267.3 passing yards, 3.3 touchdowns, and 23.3 fantasy points per game. More importantly, the veteran couldn’t ask for a better matchup to start the fantasy football playoffs. The Commanders have surrendered 21.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, the second-most in the NFL. They have given up the most passing touchdowns this year, including three or more in nearly half of their contests. Stafford should extend his streak with three or more passing touchdowns to four games on Sunday.

Jake Browning (CIN) vs. Minnesota Vikings (29.5% Rostered)

Not having Joe Burrow has been no problem for the Bengals’ offense. Since replacing Burrow during the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Browning has averaged 18.1 fantasy points per game. However, he has been outstanding over the past two weeks. The backup quarterback has completed 82% of his pass attempts for 629 yards and three touchdowns during the team’s two-game win streak. More importantly, Browning is taking advantage of his athleticism, totaling five rushing attempts for 29 yards and two touchdowns over the past two weeks.

After scoring 23.7 or more fantasy points in back-to-back games, fantasy players should have confidence in the former Washington star heading into the fantasy playoffs. Meanwhile, the Vikings held Aidan O’Connell and the Las Vegas Raiders to five fantasy points and zero actual points in Week 14. However, Minnesota had surrendered 14.3 or more fantasy points to quarterbacks in four of their previous five matchups. While he might not have 20-plus fantasy points for the third consecutive game, Browning is a safe floor low-end QB1.

Streaming Targets in Superflex Leagues

Gardner Minshew (IND) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (17.5% Rostered)

There have been several season-ending injuries to quarterbacks this year, including Anthony Richardson. Thankfully, a handful of backups have been solid streaming options for fantasy players. At the top of that list is Minshew – who has averaged 14.3 fantasy points per game since taking over as the full-time starter in Week 6. Furthermore, the veteran has played well since the bye week, averaging 267.7 passing yards and 15.8 fantasy points per game, totaling 14 or more in every contest.

This week, Minshew faces a Steelers defense that had held quarterbacks to only 13.5 fantasy points per game over the first 13 weeks, the seventh-fewest in the NFL. However, they had no answer for Bailey Zappe at home last week. The second-year quarterback had a career performance, totaling three touchdowns and 20.9 fantasy points. More importantly, Pittsburgh could be without T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith this week, as both pass rushers are in the NFL concussion protocol. If both are out on Saturday, Minshew might have over 300 passing yards against the Steelers.

Mitch Trubisky (PIT) vs. Indianapolis Colts (0.9% Rostered)

Everyone thought last week’s Thursday night matchup would be a fantasy football disaster. Yet, Trubisky was productive, completing 62.9% of his pass attempts for 190 yards and one touchdown in his first start of the season, and scoring 20.6 fantasy points against a talented New England Patriots defense. Furthermore, he used his athleticism, totaling eight rushing attempts for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Monday that Kenny Pickett wouldn’t play in Week 15, leading to Trubisky making his second-consecutive start.

The Colts had played well against quarterbacks lately, surrendering only 10 fantasy points per game to the position over their previous four games before Sunday. However, that’s because offenses could run up and down on their defense. Last week, Grover Stewart returned from a suspension and helped hold Joe Mixon to only 3.8 yards per rushing attempt. Unfortunately, it led to Jake Browning dropping three total touchdowns and 23.7 fantasy points in the win. If he can play like he did in Week 14, Trubisky will have another solid fantasy performance.

Streamer to Avoid

Bailey Zappe (NE) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (1.6% Rostered)

Typically, streaming articles tell you which players to target off the waiver wire. However, I will give one quarterback each week that you should avoid.

What in the world happened to the Patriots’ offense last Thursday night? After averaging only 12.3 points per game over their first 12 contests, New England had 21 points at halftime. Zappe had the game of his career, completing 67.9% of his pass attempts for 240 yards, three touchdowns, and 20.9 fantasy points. He set career highs in passing touchdowns and fantasy points in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, that was a fluke. The second-year quarterback had 9.6 total fantasy points this season before last week’s matchup.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs might have surrendered 20 or more fantasy points to quarterbacks in back-to-back games, but that was to Jordan Love and Josh Allen. Zappe will not have the same success against this elite Kansas City defense. Over the previous six contests, the Chiefs held quarterbacks to 176.5 passing yards, 1.2 touchdowns, and 13.4 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, they surrendered only one passing touchdown and 29.8 total fantasy points to Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts this year. Zappe is fool’s gold and a one-week wonder.
