Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice: Isaiah Hartenstein, Desmond Bane, Brandin Podziemski, Duncan Robinson

We’re about 40% of the way through the fantasy basketball season and 30% through the regular season. Because of lineup changes, injuries and *coughs* suspensions, things are always changing, as is the trade market.

Week 8 trade advice, let’s dive in!

Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 8)

Trade For

Isaiah Hartenstein (NYK – C, PF)

If you’re in need of a center, Hartenstein is the guy. Unfortunately, Mitchell Robinson is set to miss what may end up being two months after ankle surgery. Hartenstein and Jericho Sims are left to fill the massive rebounding and defensive void that Robinson leaves behind.

Hartenstein is averaging just 0.5 fewer points per game than Robinson despite playing nine fewer minutes. Per 36 minutes, the fifth-year center is averaging 11 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks on the season. Not bad!

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Xavier Tillman Sr., Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaden McDaniels

Trade Away

Desmond Bane (MEM – SF, SG)

It seems absurd to trade Bane, but he has immense value at the moment. The guard is averaging 24.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game on high volume and great efficiency. However, since 2021, when Bane started to make a name for himself, he’s averaged 19.4, 4.6, and 3.2 while playing alongside Ja Morant.

While that’s not a super dramatic difference, also consider that Marcus Smart, another ball-handler, has entered his fourth week of a recovery process that was said to be 3-5 weeks back in November.

There’s no pressing need to sell Bane of course, but with Morant and Smart nearing returns, this may be the best time to get a stellar haul in exchange.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Tyrese Maxey, Anfernee Simons

Trade For

Brandin Podziemski (GSW – SG)

Podziemski has quietly been one of the better rookies this season and he was promoted to the Warriors’ starting lineup on Thursday. In the loss, the guard struggled shooting the ball but he led the team in minutes.

The scoring numbers could use some work but Podziemski has already shown flashes as a rebounder throughout the season. He’s averaging seven boards in his past five outings and 4.9 on the year. Plus, with Draymond Green suspended indefinitely, the Warriors are hurting for a playmaker and distributor.

It’s very possible that Podziemski quickly grows into a prominent and productive role.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Jaime Jaquez Jr., Malik Beasley

Trade Away

Duncan Robinson (MIA – SF, SG)

Tyler Herro appears very close to a return. In eight games played, he’s averaged a team-leading 19 field goal attempts per game. This doesn’t spell well for Robinson who averages just 11 points on 8.5 attempts per game in 214 career games with Herro.

In 23 games this season, Robinson is averaging career-highs in points and shot attempts. It’s unclear how the lineup will change once Herro comes back, but Robinson’s production is sure to take a hit.
