Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 9)
Trade For
Derrick White (BOS – PG, SG)
White is posting 20.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, five assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game on 52% shooting from the field and a staggering 47.3% clip from deep on 8.2 attempts in December.
Whoever has White in your league is sure to covet him, but he may just be worth the cost it takes to land him. Few guards impact the game quite like White does. He’s an active defender on and off the ball, he’s definitely not afraid to shoot the three (27 attempts in his last two games), and he’s a fine distributor and rebounder.
If White is available for trade, the least you can do is send an offer.
Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Jrue Holiday, Jamal Murray, Brook Lopez
Trade Away
D’Angelo Russell (LAL – PG, SG)
Russell’s stellar start is now well behind him. In the games since the In-Season Tournament final, Russell has exceeded his season’s scoring average just once, attempted only two free throws, and topped 40% shooting once.
Fellow guard Austin Reaves has wholly outperformed the Ohio State product as of late.
Lean on Russell’s first handful of weeks in negotiations to land a more productive asset.
Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Austin Reaves, Coby White
Trade For
Tari Eason (HOU – PF, SF)
In the past two weeks, Eason has improved on nearly every statistical category since his first dozen games of the season. The strongest parts of the 6-foot-8 forward’s game have always been his rebounding and defense. Per 36 minutes, Eason ranks 35th in the NBA in rebounds per game at 10.1. That’s more than Bam Adebayo, Myles Turner and Jaren Jackson Jr.
What projects best for Eason throughout the rest of the season is his already growing volume. He shot 47.3% from the field on 6.1 attempts in nine games in November. Through eight games in December, the attempts are up to 9.5 and the efficiency has risen to 47.4%.
Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Kelly Oubre Jr., Bennedict Mathurin, Harrison Barnes
Trade Away
Jonathan Kuminga (GSW – PF)
Since Kuminga was inserted into Golden State’s starting lineup, the Warriors are 3-1 and the third-year forward is averaging 13.5 points and five rebounds on 58.3/50/53.8 shooting splits. However, with Steve Kerr’s sporadic minutes distribution, how can we be sure that this production is here to stay? On some nights it’s Kuminga, and on others it’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, or Dario Saric, or Moses Moody.
Relying on any Warrior not named Stephen Curry is a scary position to be in.
Kuminga’s value has absolutely risen since Draymond Green‘s indefinite suspension, and that’s why he’s a trade away candidate. Kuminga’s ceiling is hardly notable and his floor is too low to lean on him. See if you can move him for a player who is a staple of their team’s rotation.
