11 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 16)

11 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 16)

For one last time before the final waiver runs of the season we’re back and ready to dive into the lists of players rostered below 50% in your fantasy leagues (according to Yahoo). These are all players who’ve either impressed recently or have a particularly nice matchup for Championship Weekend.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes

Jake Browning (QB – CIN) – 46% Rostered

In his past three games, Jake Browning has finished as the QB4 twice and most recently QB8. The Bengals have found ways to work around not having Joe Burrow and they’re now on the cusp of the playoffs with the team playing better than expected. Ja’Marr Chase is set to miss Week 16 but has a chance to play in Week 17 when the Bengals face the Kansas CityChiefs. We’ve seen too many quarterbacks get injured this year to risk heading into championship weekend without a good backup option.

Joe Flacco (QB – CLE) – 32% Rostered

Over the past three weeks, Joe Flacco’s 141 dropbacks leads the league and his back-to-back 300-yard games are something Deshaun Watson hasn’t done since 2020. Flacco has been the perfect quarterback for sparking tight end David Njoku‘s and wide receiver Amari Cooper‘s seasons right when it matters and he’ll lead the Browns into a home fixture against the New York Jets in Week 17. The Jets will have nothing to play for while the Browns chase a playoff spot, and while it might not be the best matchup, Flacco has shown he’s willing to keep chucking it up and letting his receivers make a play.

Zamir White (RB – LV) – 23% Rostered

There is very little reason for the franchise-tagged Josh Jacobs to hurry back to play in this Raiders offense that is merely counting down the days to the end of the season. Yes, the Raiders have been pleasantly fun at times lately, but why should Jacobs risk a serious injury that would suppress how much he can earn on the open market this offseason? Zamir White has had limited opportunities in the NFL so far until last weeks slaughter of the Chargers, where White saw 20 touches for 85 total yards and a touchdown, good enough to finish as RB12 on the week. If Jacobs misses out, White is an easy click.

Justice Hill (RB – CIN) – 17% Rostered

The Ravens lost promising rookie Keaton Mitchell to an ACL injury in Week 16 and it could affect them greatly in their quest for the Lombardi Trophy, especially with Gus Edwards not quite having the same juice he used to in the backfield. Edwards has averaged over 3.7 yards per carry once in his past five games, a far cry from the days when five yards seemed to be automatic for him. Hill has been out of favor after leading to some fumbles at the mesh point in handoffs with Lamar Jackson, but the team has little choice but to bring him back into the fold, with Hill’s burst and ability in the passing game well suited to the offense Todd Monken wants to run.

Joshua Palmer (WR – LAC) – 47% Rostered

Things are looking pretty bleak for the Chargers right now and it’s a toss-up whether the defense or offense is the worst unit on the team. The defense is the only one ranked top-10 in fantasy points allowed to all of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. Thanks to that the offense is consistently put in pass-heavy scripts which favors the few players that are left standing. Josh Palmer has proven he’s a better caliber NFL receiver than Quentin Johnston right now and he’s scored double-digit PPR points in five of the eight games he’s played this year.

Noah Brown (WR- HOU) – 47% Rostered

The Texans have been banged up for a number of weeks now with their injury report longer than the receipt for all that Christmas booze you just bought. Rookie C.J. Stroud is set to miss Week 17 with concussion symptoms – his second consecutive missed game – but there is a good chance he’ll be back for Week 17’s plum matchup with the pass-funnel Titans, who allow the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Brown has scored 22 or more PPR points in three of his past five games, including most recently in Week 15 when the Titans faced the Texans for the first time in three games, and Brown will have an excellent opportunity to add to that against Tennessee in the rematch.

Dontayvion Wicks (WR – GB) – 9% Rostered

Diving deep into the un-rostered players, we find Dontayvion Wicks who had his second 90-plus yard game of the season and finished as the WR19. Jayden Reed is banged up, Christian Watson is still hamstrung and Romeo Doubs has been largely ineffective for fantasy purposes, leaving opportunities for Wicks to claim a role. Since Week 8, Wicks averaged 4.8 targets per game, with no less than four in any game. The Packers face the Vikings in Week 17 in an important game for both teams hoping to squeak into the playoffs and Wicks has the potential to be a nice play if any of the other Packers receivers are still missing at that point.

Chigoziem Okonkwo (TE – TEN) – 33% Rostered

The Titans have been eliminated from playoff contention but Mike Vrabel isn’t the type of coach to let his team quit while there is still pride at stake and particularly when you have a Week 17 game against a division rival where you can spurn their chances of making the playoffs. The Texans allow the fourth-most points to opposing tight ends and Okonkwo is heading into this fixture at a time when he’s in his best form of the season with an average of 51.6 receiving yards in his last three games.

Tucker Kraft (TE – GB) – 16% Rostered

The Packers lost Luke Musgrave to injury but slotted Kraft straight into the same role. Kraft played on 96% of snaps over the past four games and has finished as the TE11, 12, 19 and 6 in that spell. We don’t need to overcomplicate this one.

Jacksonville Jaguars – 41% Rostered

In Week 17 the Jaguars get to play the Carolina Panthers in their own building in a game that could spell bad news for quarterback Bryce Young. The Jaguars have had an interception in three straight games and had two or more sacks in all but one of their last seven games.

Atlanta Falcons – 36% Rostered

The Falcons are as good as any team in the league at taking away a teams top passing game option, with defensive backs AJ Terrell and Jessie Bates providing elite double coverage when it necessitates. The Bears aren’t blessed with many options outside of DJ Moore and if the Falcons successfully take away Moore, it could be painful for Justin Fields. The Falcons have had three or more sacks in two of their past three games and forced a fumble in four consecutive games.
