Sleeper NBA Lock In: Lock or Pass Week 2

What is Lock-In mode?

Lock-In Mode is a new way to play fantasy basketball that allows fantasy managers to Lock-In a player’s fantasy points following a game or choose to take the risk that they will score more fantasy points in one of the remaining games that week. You can Lock-In just one game per week and cannot Lock-In bench players.

This introduces a new layer of strategy to fantasy basketball while also making fantasy basketball more of a weekly endeavor with daily upkeep as opposed to daily management game that requires one to be on top of injuries and rest days to maximize output. This is great for those who are not available every evening or night to make lineup changes as needed and for those who just do not appreciate the daily grind that season-long fantasy basketball often requires.

Shaedon Sharpe (G/F – POR): 63 fantasy points

Sharpe exploded for 63 fantasy points by recording 29 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks on 9/16 shooting with 3/6 from deep. He made eight of 10 free throw attempts and had just two turnovers. This could very well end up as his best fantasy line of the season, so this is an easy lock decision.

Choice: Lock

Jalen Green (G/F – HOU): 51 fantasy points

Green finished with a season-high 51 fantasy points against the Charlotte Hornets, recording 23 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals on 6/16 shooting. He drained 4/8 of his attempts from deep and nailed all seven free throws while commuting just one turnover. Green can have bigger fantasy nights, but with just one more game this week, why pass on his season-high watermark?

Choice: Lock

Scottie Barnes (G/F – TOR): 67 fantasy points

The talented third year wing had his best fantasy outing of the season on Wednesday against Milwaukee, recording 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks on 8/16 shooting. He drained four of his eight attempts from deep while hitting his one trip to the charity stripe. He had three turnovers. Much like Green above, Scottie is capable of higher levels of fantasy production, but passing on a season-high makes little sense, even if Barnes has two more games left to play.

Choice: Lock

Dennis Schroeder (G – TOR): 62 fantasy points

Schroeder had what could go down as his best game of the season on Wednesday night, recording 24 points, four rebounds, 11 assists, and one steal on 9/13 shooting. He hit 2/4 from deep and all four of his free throw attempts while committing just two turnovers. A 24 point double double with excellent shooting numbers is too good to pass up. Schroeder’s 62 fantasy points are a new season high. I will be locking Schroeder’s performance in for the week.

Choice: Lock

Victor Wembanyama (C/F – SAS): 41 fantasy points

Wemby had a strong outing on Tuesday, racking up 18 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and four blocks on 6/12 shooting. He drained two of his six attempts from the three point line while nailing four of his five free throw attempts. He committed an unsightly five turnovers on the night. 41 fantasy points are solid, but I expect more from the talented big man. With a season-high of 64 fantasy points, I will be passing on the lock and hope for better production when the Spurs take on the Suns tonight or the Raptors on Sunday.

Choice: Pass

Onyeka Okongwu (C/F – ATL): 45.50 fantasy points

Okongwu is another player on my roster who has a season-high in fantasy production. Generating 45 fantasy points off 16 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and one block off 6/8 shooting, this was an easy lock decision. Onyeka is frustratingly still dealing with Clint Capela blocking him from a starter’s role but is capable of posting strong fantasy outings off the bench. However, given his inconsistent minutes per game, we need to jump when he has a good night. I would be locking this number in even if it was not his new season high. For reference, this is a number Onyeka exceeded just seven times last season.

Choice: Lock

Jakob Poeltl (C – TOR): 48.50 fantasy points

Yes, it was a busy night of locks. Jakob recorded a strong 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and three blocks on 7/10 shooting against Milwaukee. The 48.5 fantasy points beat his previous season high by more than 10 points, making this another easy decision. Yes, the Raptors have two more games left this week, but the three blocks are a nice point spike that it seems foolish to pass on. For reference, Poeltl exceeded three blocks just four times last season.

Choice: Lock
