Rival Fantasy NFL: Week 13

Challenges

Last week’s challenge between CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra. St. Brown was the closest one all season, with CeeDee narrowly pulling off the win thanks to finding the end zone. This week we will go back to the hot player well and tap Kyren Williams. This is just the second time we have done a running back challenge all season.

Kyren Williams landed in the perfect system for his skill set. He did not wow at the Combine, but his hands and contact balance have never been in question. He is the RB10 on the season despite missing four games, accentuating just how incredible he has been this season. On a per game basis, Kyren is averaging 85.6 rushing yards and 23.7 receiving yards per game. Kyren is the RB2 in fantasy points per game, behind just one player.

That player, of course, is Christian McCaffrey. CMC has been the hottest back in the league this season and shows no signs of slowing down in an explosive 49ers offense. CMC thrives wherever he is, but his job got a lot easier in an offensive scheme like the one Kyle Shanahan runs. He routinely puts his players in the best position to succeed, and CMC is no exception. CMC is on track to be named to his second (is this right?) All-Pro team and has an excellent shot at Offensive Player of the Year honors. Both running backs have tough matchups against ferocious defensive fronts this week, which should make for an interesting challenge.

Fantasy Bingo

Another week, another disappointment at Fantasy Bingo. This was one of my tougher weeks as I had only a few achievements completed and had just one card with any potential. I had two achievements in a corner of one card but still needed three total TDs (WR) and more than one fumble (TE). RNG continues to be unforgvinng, so I will be going with my standard five cards again this week.

There are two cards worth monitoring this week. On one, I have a potential corner with more than 15 rushing attempts (RB), more than three receiving TDs (WR), more than 100 total yards (WR), and six to nine receptions (TE). On another card, there are two corners I will be monitoring, although one of them is more due to a lack of other exciting corners than being probability-driven. On the top left corner, there are more than 100 rushing yards and five receptions (RB), more than one fumble (WR), more than 80 receiving yards (TE), and more than 150 passing yards. The three achievements stand out, but being attached to the more than one fumble achievement makes this a very low probability corner. On the top right corner of the same card we have six to nine receptions (RB), two TDs receiving in the fourth quarter (WR), two field goals made (K), and six to nine receptions (RB). The field goal one will be tough because it requires two field goals on the dot, while the two receiving TDs in the fourth quarter achievement is too specific to hold out any real hope for.

Difficult achievements included on my cards this week include two TDs rushing + one receiving TD + one passing TD (RB), three passing TDs in the second quarter (QB), one rushing TD in the second quarter (WR), 25 rushing yards (TE), 90 receiving yards (RB), zero field goals made (K), more than 50 rushing yards (WR), one rushing TD and two receiving TDs (RB), 500 total yards (QB), 100 rushing yards (QB), five field goals made (K), two receiving TDs in the fourth quarter (RB), one rushing TD in the fourth quarter (WR), three field goals missed (K), more than three sacks (QB), more than four passing TDs in the third quarter (QB), and more than four passing TDs in the fourth quarter (QB). These, of course, are not the only challenging achievements, as there are oddly specific achievements like the three passing TDs in the second quarter littered across the skill positions. There are also more doable but far from a sure thing achievements like 125 receiving yards (TE), 150 receiving yards (WR), and two TDs rushing plus one receiving (RB). These all seem to be common achievements that have shown up each week.

My roster for this week has Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, and Travis Etienne at running back, CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown at wide receiver, Travis Kelce at tight end, and Brandon Aubrey at kicker. I thought about Kyren Williams for my flex spot after he went bonkers last week, but I did not like the matchup. I am a little concerned at QB, as Mahomes doesn’t use his legs enough to feel confident with any of the QB rushing achievements. All in all, this was about the best roster I could put together, with C.J. Stroud and Tyreek Hill both not being selectable options for me when I built my roster. Good luck to all on your Fantasy Bingo cards this week.
