Rival Fantasy NFL: Week 12

Challenges

Our challenge last week was canceled when Noah Brown was declared inactive with a knee injury. The Texans appear to have been playing games with their injury report, as the latest news out of Houston suggests that Brown could miss an additional one to two games. For Week 12, we will focus on the top two receivers in the Turkey Day games in CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Both receivers have been spectacular in their own right.

CeeDee Lamb made history this season by becoming the first player ever to record three consecutive games with 10 or more receptions and 150 more receiving yards. Third in the NFL with 1013 receiving yards, CeeDee is averaging a robust 101.3 receiving yards per game. He has an easy matchup this weekend against a Washington team that has been torched by the wide receiver position for 191.8 receiving yards per game.  He should have another big game and is expected to be one of the top performers from the Thanksgiving slate.

Amon-Ra St. Brown has taken his game to a new level this season, averaging career highs of 8.1 receptions and 99.8 receiving yards per game. He has gotten better this year despite the team having added talent at wideout and has proven that he is a true alpha receiver. Amon-Ra has recorded 100 receiving yards or a touchdown in every game this season and will be one of the top producers from the Turkey Day slate. Pitting him against CeeDee makes for a high-octane challenge that should provide some fireworks. This is going to be a fun one.

Fantasy Bingo

Another week, another loss at Fantasy Bingo. I did have close calls on a couple of my cards with two squares of a corner square, but the missing achievements included more than three TDs (RB) and more than 200 rushing yards (RB) on one, and more than 150 receiving yards (WR), and three total TDs (WR) on the other. There was another card that had two squares in a corner but came with outlandish achievements, such as two receiving TDs in the first quarter (RB) and 50 rushing yards (WR).

This week, I will be going back to the five card well. Five has not been a kind number to me, but my luck/RNG did not change when I upped my cards to 10, so five it is. For Thanksgiving week, I will be building a card of just Thursday players. I thought about including Amazon Prime’s Black Friday game as well, but no one likes waiting an extra day for their DFS contest to complete. For Week 12, only one of my cards offers any hope, and that hope may be relative based on how difficult the first four cards were. On my fifth and final card of the week, I have a corner square to monitor with six to nine receptions (WR), three total TDs (RB), 100 rushing yards + five catches (RB), and three total TDs (WR). The total TD achievements are very specific, making it a corner I’d pay zero attention to on a week with more appealing cards. However, the bottom corner on the same card also offers some hope with zero to 19 yard field goal distance (K), three passing TDs (QB), more than 100 receiving yards (WR), and more than 200 total yards (RB).

Difficult achievements included on my cards this week include two TDs rushing + one receiving TD + one passing TD (RB), three passing TDs in the second quarter (QB), one rushing TD in the second quarter (WR), 25 rushing yards (TE), 90 receiving yards (RB), zero field goals made (K), more than 50 rushing yards (WR), one rushing TD and two receiving TDs (RB), 500 total yards (QB), 100 rushing yards (QB), five field goals made (K), two receiving TDs in the fourth quarter (RB), one rushing TD in the fourth quarter (WR), three field goals missed (K), more than three sacks (QB), more than four passing TDs in the third quarter (QB), and more than four passing TDs in the fourth quarter (QB). These, of course, are not the only challenging achievements, as there are oddly specific achievements like the three passing TDs in the second quarter littered across the skill positions. There are also more doable but far from a sure thing achievements like 125 receiving yards (TE), 150 receiving yards (WR), and two TDs rushing plus one receiving (RB). These all seem to be common achievements that have shown up each week.

As mentioned above, my roster for this week only has Turkey Day players. At quarterback, I went with Dak Prescott because he is facing Washington. At running back, I went with roster mainstay Christian McCaffrey and paired him with Brian Robinson. At wide receiver, I tapped Amon-Ra St. Brown, CeeDee Lamb, and Brandon Aiyuk. At tight end, I had a few options, but with no one really jumping out as far as achievement hitting is concerned, I rolled with my favorite of the bunch in rookie tight end Sam LaPorta. Finally, at kicker, I went with Brandon Aubrey. Having a Fantasy Bingo card live for Thursday’s action promises to make gameday all the more entertaining. Good luck to all on your Fantasy Bingo cards this week, and enjoy the holidays if you partake.
