Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for this week’s NFL action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NFL more/less picks.
Sleeper Picks NFL Week 9
Season record: 16-17
Josh Downs (WR – IND): 53.5 receiving yards
Josh Downs has been one of the bright spots for the Indianapolis Colts in another lost season. He is averaging 59.1 receiving yards per game and is only getting better. He has recorded 72 or more receiving yards in three of his last four games and looks like a terrific More play for Week 9. Josh Downs is already the team’s number two receiver and is even pushing Michael Pittman in production. Since Week 5, Downs is averaging an impressive 7.8 targets, 5.3 receptions, and 79 receiving yards per game with a strong 22.3 percent target share. He should continue to be a focal point of the aerial attack against the Carolina Panthers. Dap the More on Downs for Week 9.
Pick: More
A.J. Brown (WR – PHI): 82.5 receiving yards
Averaging 117.4 receiving yards per game on the season, I thought this was a Sleeper Picks special discount total. Lo and behold, it is not. A.J. Brown has been scorching lately and has recorded 127 or more receiving yards in six straight games since his animated sideline discussion with quarterback Jalen Hurts. The connection is looking unstoppable, and unfortunately for opposing defenses, the presence of DeVonta Smith prevents them from constantly double-teaming A.J. Yes, Devonta is that good. The Dallas Cowboys secondary is missing arguably its biggest piece in Trevon Diggs, so they are going to have an extremely difficult time trying to contain someone like Brown despite the addition of Stephon Gilmore.
Pick: More
Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA): 91.5 receiving yards
Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa are going to be on a mission in Germany. Hill is expected to be force-fed against his former team, and it would be a massive upset if Hill did not record at least 100 receiving yards against Kansas City. Averaging 126.8 receiving yards per game on the season, this total has value even without the extra love Tyreek is likely to receive from Tua and Mike McDaniel on Sunday morning. Tyreek has posted 112 or more receiving yards in four of his last six games, with 88 or more in five of those six. Tap the More on Tyreek for Week 9.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
