Fantasy Football Week 10 Start/Sit Advice: Sleepers & Duds (2023)

Which under-the-radar players might be able to give your fantasy team a lift? Which chalky players might not be as safe as they seem? Our featured analysts name some potential sleepers and underachievers along with start/sit advice for Week 10.

Fantasy Football Week 10 Start/Sit Advice

Q. Which player outside of the top 100 in the FantasyPros flex rankings is a good sleeper start and why do you think he has upside this week?

Drake London (WR – ATL)

“This one’s easy, based on current rankings. If Drake London stays anywhere near WR54 in ECR, then A LOT of projectors will be very wrong on him vs. Arizona. Assuming he’ll move up if/when he gets through healthy practices, I’ll add Khalil Herbert. He practiced in full Monday and Tuesday. He was controlling work the last two games before spraining his ankle. D’Onta Foreman has played well since then. He has also opened as many 2023 games as a healthy scratch as he has in the starting lineup. We don’t know how Bears coaches will split the work here. That’s what makes any Bears RB a sleeper-level play. But if I’m in need, I’ll take a shot on the guy who has won coaching preference already this year and who brings more passing-game acumen. Of course, this situation becomes all the more playable for the Carolina matchup (2nd-most RB points allowed). Editor’s Note: Herbert is not expected to be activated for Thursday’s game against the Panthers.”
Matt Schauf (Draft Sharks)

Keaton Mitchell (RB – BAL)

“Keaton Mitchell is still outside of the top 100 flex rankings. The ECR has him at RB41. Not many players in this range have the upside that Mitchell has, and none of them have run for 138 yards. He did it just last week. Mitchell carries risk. He only played on 18% of snaps and had 9 carries. Mitchell appears to have earned more opportunities, and we have seen what he can do with them. If you are looking for upside, Mitchell is it.”
David Heilman (Sports Gambling Podcast Network)

Keaton Mitchell showed out last week for the Baltimore Ravens, and he has the chance to do it again this week in a tougher matchup against the Browns. What will be interesting to watch is how often we see Mitchell out there for Baltimore, with the majority of his work coming in garbage time last week. He has earned the right to gain more playing time, but whether it will come at the expense of Justice Hill or Gus Edwards remains to be seen. In deeper leagues for those that have bye week or injury issues, Mitchell could be a play.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

Keaton Mitchell burst onto the scene last week with nine carries for 138 yards and a TD. Mitchell was the top waiver wire pickup in many leagues. He could be the new lightning in a run-heavy Baltimore offense and, if he continues to perform, be a comparable player to De’Von Achane in Miami. This week could be tough sledding with Cleveland, but with his speed, he only needs one hole to open up.”
Adam Dove (The Fantasy Couriers)

Antonio Gibson (RB – WAS)

“Antonio Gibson has been a massive bust this season, averaging only 5.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. However, with four teams full of elite fantasy talent on a bye in Week 10, Gibson has flex appeal. The former Memphis star had a season-high six rushing attempts for 34 yards and 10.1 fantasy points last week. More importantly, he has five receptions in back-to-back contests. Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks have surrendered 363 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and 67.4 fantasy points to running backs over the past two weeks. While Brian Robinson Jr. remains the lead back, Gibson should have enough workload this week to enter the flex range conversation.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

Rondale Moore (WR – ARI)

“The Falcons’ defense just got roasted by Joshua Dobbs, who just walked in the Vikings’ door knowing virtually nothing about Minnesota’s playbook after starter Jaren Hall was knocked out with a concussion. If Dobbs can do well under those challenging circumstances versus Atlanta, you’d think Kyler Murray could do even better, assuming he plays. Murray should be able to ignite a lethargic Cardinals’ offense in what figures to be a shootout in Arizona. One of the beneficiaries could be Rondale Moore. Moore’s speed and explosiveness make him a threat to break off big plays anytime he touches the rock, like legendary fantasy analyst Mark Ringo, who’s a threat to give bad advice and tell terrible jokes anytime he gets near a computer keyboard.”
Mark Ringo (Sleepers and Busts)

Michael Wilson (WR – ARI)

“I think Michael Wilson is an interesting sleeper this week against the Atlanta Falcons. He had been flashing and the underlying usage metrics had been trending up until he missed last week with a shoulder injury. Wilson should likely be back this week, and so is Kyler Murray, who should hopefully boost this offense in a big way.”
Robert Norton (Last Word On Sports)

James Conner (RB – ARI)

“James Conner looks to make his return from the IR in Week 10, and he will be a prime sleeper candidate when he does. Conner started off the season with back-to-back games of 98 rushing yards and a touchdown before being lost to injury. When Conner is on the field, he is the main piece to the Cardinal’s offence and will step back into an elite workload.”
Aaron St Denis (The League Winners)

“Before he got hurt, James Conner was playing well over 60% of snaps and averaging 18 opportunities per game. Once he returns to the lineup, Conner should quickly acclimate himself right back into a high-volume, RB2 role. Plus, the pending return of QB Kyler Murray will only help open things up for Arizona’s sagging ground game.”
Jody Smith (FullTime Fantasy)

Jonathan Mingo (WR – CAR)

“Mingo is playing a lot more lately (at least 93 percent of the snaps three straight games). It just seems a matter of time before he has that huge game. He has at least four targets three of four games and at least four receptions two of those games. It would not surprise to see him have his best game to date this week against the Bears. While Chicago is stout against the run, the Bears allow the 15th most fantasy points to receivers and are 25th overall against the pass.”
Jeff Paur (RTSports)

Jonnu Smith (TE – ATL)

“I’m going back to Jonnu Smith to have another great week. Smith has an upside for a sleeper tight end or a potential flex play. He plays more as the TE1, with Kyle Pitts lining up wide more often. While Drake London is expected to return this week, Smith can still find between six and eight targets with better quarterback play. The Cardinals have shown weakness in stopping tight ends as of late. Smith could have another excellent fantasy outing in week ten. ”

Q. Which player inside the top 40 in the FantasyPros flex rankings is likely to disappoint fantasy managers this week?

Derrick Henry (RB – TEN)

“This could be a tough week for Derrick Henry against the Bucs’ run defense. Tampa Bay has only allowed RBs to score one TD this season. The running back position is only averaging 73.5 rushing yards per game and the Bucs have only allowed one 100-yard rusher. Henry is playing great, but he can be slowed, as evidenced by his subpar game against Cleveland back in Week 3 when he rushed for just 20 yards on 11 carries.”
Matt De Lima (The Game Day)

Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG)

“If you’re the Dallas Cowboys, how many Giants players are you actually focused on defending against this week? Here’s the list: Saquon Barkley. Let’s look back to the Giants’ awful Week 1 effort for a preview of how that might go for Barkley: 12 carries, 51 yards; 4 targets, 3 catches, 12 yards. And now he’ll go on the road, with the third-string QB and no Darren Waller. It’s probably not going to be a fun week to have Barkley.”
Matt Schauf (Draft Sharks)

Jahmyr Gibbs (RB – DET)

“Jahmyr Gibbs is coming off a career game, and David Montgomery is returning. The hope is that Gibbs has earned more touches and that the Lions also want to play it safer with Montgomery. But, we saw last time Montgomery returned from injury and Gibbs saw a career-high 18 touches. He had 8 rushes for 40 yards and 4 receptions for 11 yards. You have to start Gibbs this week, but lower expectations with David Montgomery returning.”
David Heilman (Sports Gambling Podcast Network)

Davante Adams (WR – LV)

“It just has not been great for Davante Adams, at all. Adams has not recorded a top-30 finish since Week 4, and it doesn’t get easier Sunday Night against a very good Jets defense. Adams will more than likely see his fair share of Sauce Gardner, probably the best corner in football today. Adams might be better off on your benches until he shows that he can turn it around if you can afford it, but for many of you that spent a 1st or 2nd round pick on him, you may not have that choice.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

“Fantasy players likely don’t have a better option than to start Davante Adams, but temper your expectations this week. The superstar had fewer half-point PPR fantasy points than Tre Tucker last week (6.6 vs. 5.4) with Aidan O’Connell under center. Adams has scored under 9.3 fantasy points in five consecutive contests. Unfortunately, things won’t improve this week against the New York Jets. They’ve surrendered the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season (17.1). The Jets haven’t given up a receiving touchdown to a wide receiver since Week 1. Adams shouldn’t be ranked in the top 15 wide receivers despite all the superstars on a bye.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

Gus Edwards (RB – BAL)

“Gus Edwards is in a prime letdown spot this week. He’s coming off three nice games in a row, but that’s been fueled by six touchdowns over those three games. He only had five carries this past week, and the Ravens have been getting Keaton Mitchell more involved. Edwards needs a touchdown to be viable, and that might be tough to come by this week against a stout Cleveland Browns defense.”
Robert Norton (Last Word On Sports)

“The Gus Bus rampage is going to come to an end in week ten. Six touchdowns over the last three weeks have been great for fantasy, but it ends here. This Ravens backfield is turning into a potential three-person committee that will limit Gus Edwards even more. We can’t rely on him just scoring touchdowns every week. The Browns are a tough defense that will make it difficult for Edwards. If Keanton Mitchell starts to see more work based on week nine, then Edwards could be in some serious issues.”
Steven Pintado (The Fantasy Coaches)

James Cook (RB – BUF)

“James Cook seems to be in a great situation in Buffalo, but he hasn’t been consistent enough to excite fantasy owners. He only has 3 games over 70 yards and is coming off his worst performance of the year. Enter Denver, who, with the exception of the Miami disaster, hasn’t played terrible defense this year. With the addition of Leonard Fournette and usage of Josh Allen at the goal line, Cook will need to get a bunch of catches to have top value as a running back.”
Adam Dove (The Fantasy Couriers)

D.J. Moore (WR – CHI)

“D.J. Moore, WR, Bears. Moore has fewer than double-digit fantasy points two straight games. He has less than 60 yards four straight games. You might want to look for other options to use this week against the Panthers. Carolina is third overall against the pass, allowing just 193.9 passing yards per game. The Panthers also allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points to receivers. ”
