Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets (Week 12)

Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets (Week 12)

Week 11 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books. Hopefully, your team pulled out the victory. However, the only easy win was last week’s win. So, let’s look at the top streaming quarterback options for Week 12.

All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN 1QB leagues and under 25% in superflex leagues.

Streaming Targets in 1QB Leagues

Jordan Love (GB) vs. Detroit Lions (43.7% Rostered)

The first-year starter has had an up-and-down season. Love averaged 21.3 fantasy points per game over the first four weeks, scoring 20 or more in all but one contest. Unfortunately, he averaged only 12.2 fantasy points per game over the next four matchups. However, Love has played well lately. Over the past two weeks, the young quarterback has averaged 305.5 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 18.8 fantasy points per game, scoring 16.7 or more in both matchups. He is coming off arguably the most impressive performance of his career.

Last week, the former Utah State star took advantage of a fantasy-friendly matchup. Thankfully, Love gets another appealing matchup on Thanksgiving. The Lions have surrendered 19 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. However, they’ve struggled since the bye week. Detroit has given up 2.5 passing touchdowns and 24.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, surrendering at least 21.2 fantasy points in both contests. Love had 17.6 fantasy points in the Week 4 matchup against the Lions. He should have at least that many fantasy points in the rematch.

Matthew Stafford (LAR) vs. Arizona Cardinals (31.4% Rostered)

Unfortunately, the veteran quarterback has struggled this year. Stafford’s biggest problem is the lack of touchdown production. He has thrown two passing touchdowns only once (Week 5) this season. By comparison, the former No. 1 pick has one passing touchdown in every other contest since Week 1. Last week, Stafford completed 54.8% of his pass attempts for 190 yards, one touchdown, and 9.7 fantasy points, a season-low. However, it was his first game back from the thumb injury on his throwing hand, and he was without Cooper Kupp for most of the game.

Hopefully, the superstar wide receiver will play in Week 12 against Arizona. While Stafford had only 24 pass attempts and 13.2 fantasy points in that contest, the Rams blew out the Cardinals 26-9. However, that won’t happen again with Kyler Murray playing. More importantly, Arizona has given up 17.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, one of the highest averages in the NFL. The Cardinals have given up two or more passing touchdowns in two of their past three games. Let’s hope Stafford can put up a second touchdown in the NFC West matchup.

Streaming Targets in Superflex Leagues

Bryce Young (CAR) vs. Tennessee Titans (11.9% Rostered)

While C.J. Stroud has earned MVP hype as a rookie, Young has severely struggled. The former Alabama star has averaged one passing touchdown and only 10.8 fantasy points per game this season, totaling more than one touchdown only once. Furthermore, he has averaged only 7.8 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks, scoring fewer than 9.3 in every contest. Last week, Young had the worst performance of his career, totaling 123 passing yards and 5.2 fantasy points against the Dallas Cowboys. However, his fantasy outlook is solid moving forward.

After facing an elite Cowboys defense, the rookie faces the Titans on Sunday. Tennessee has struggled to slow down opposing passing attacks lately. Since their bye week, the Titans have surrendered 19.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Furthermore, Trevor Lawrence broke out of his season-long slump last week against Tennessee, totaling 262 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 32.2 fantasy points, a season-high. Young won’t score 32 fantasy points in Week 12. However, don’t be surprised if he has over 17 fantasy points for the second time this year.

Gardner Minshew (IND) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6.7% Rostered)

Fantasy players have seen Minshew run hot and cold this season. The veteran quarterback averaged 160.5 passing yards, 0.5 touchdowns, and 7.6 fantasy points per game over the two weeks before the team’s Week 11 bye, scoring 9.6 or fewer fantasy points in both contests. However, Minshew faced two talented pass defenses and awful offenses. By comparison, the veteran averaged 259 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 21 fantasy points per game over his previous two contests.

Thankfully, the Buccaneers are an excellent matchup for Minshew. They can put up points, forcing the Colts to execute on offense. More importantly, Tampa Bay’s pass defense has been one of the worst in the NFL. They have surrendered 19.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, one of the top averages allowed in the league. Furthermore, the Buccaneers have given 25.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past four weeks despite facing Will Levis during that span. Minshew is prime for a massive performance following the bye week.

Streamer to Avoid

Tommy DeVito (NYG) vs. New England Patriots (1.4% Rostered)

Typically, streaming articles tell you which players to target off the waiver wire. However, I will give one quarterback each week that you should avoid.

Last week, I had DeVito as a streaming option because of the matchup against the Washington Commanders. They had surrendered 2.1 passing touchdowns and 20.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the first 10 weeks this season, the most in the NFL. Then, the undrafted rookie had a career performance against the NFC East division rivals, completing 69.2% of his pass attempts for 246 yards, three touchdowns, and 22.5 fantasy points. By comparison, DeVito had three passing touchdowns over his first two career starts.

However, fantasy players shouldn’t expect a repeat performance from the rookie quarterback in Week 12. Instead of facing an extremely fantasy-friendly Commanders’ defense, he takes on the Patriots. While their offense has been a disaster this season, New England’s defense remains one of the best in the league. They have held quarterbacks to only 14.4 fantasy points per game this year, one of the lower averages in the NFL. With no teams on a bye in Week 12, fantasy players should have no trouble finding a better starting option than DeVito.
