De’Von Achane reaggravates same knee injury
De’Von Achane reportedly reaggravated the same knee injury during Sunday’s game that sidelined him for four games.

Fantasy Impact

It is not expected to require surgery, but the team is expected to gather information on what to do moving forward with Achane. When asked if he could play Friday, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said, “There’s a chance that he will and he won’t… I definitely would not rule him out, but would definitely not rule him in, either.” If Achane misses more time, Raheem Mostert should jump back into the clear lead role.

De’Von Achane Injury Outlook & Fantasy Football Impact

Achane had a setback with a knee injury during the game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite this, the Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, indicated that Achane was held out as a precaution after someone landed on his injured knee. McDaniel noted that Achane tried to return to the game, but the decision was made not to risk further injury. He received positive feedback from the training staff, but ultimately, Achane did not play again in that game.

Achane’s injury occurred early in the game on his second touch, a four-yard reception. He immediately left the field and was examined by the medical staff, eventually going to the locker room under medical supervision. When he returned to the sidelines, he was without his helmet, indicating he wouldn’t play further in the game.

This injury’s impact on the Dolphins and fantasy football is significant given Achane’s performance this season. Before the injury, he had an impressive record, breaking the record for most touchdowns by a rookie in his first four games with a total of seven touchdowns. His standout performances included a four-touchdown game against the Denver Broncos and over 100 rushing yards in subsequent games against the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants.

In his absence, Raheem Mostert is expected to take the lead as the Dolphins’ primary running back. Mostert has been productive this season, ranking among the top fantasy points scorers at his position. His performance alongside Achane had already been strong, and he’s expected to continue this trend with increased responsibilities.

Additionally, Jeff Wilson Jr. is returning to the Dolphins’ backfield, which could also impact the team’s running game and fantasy football dynamics. Wilson, who has a history with Coach McDaniel from their time at the San Francisco 49ers, showed productivity last season and could be a valuable player upon his return.

For deeper fantasy leagues, Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks are two players to consider. Ahmed has shown potential in both preseason and regular season play, while Brooks, an undrafted rookie, has also displayed flashes of talent. While they may not be immediate choices for play, their potential utility increases due to the injury histories of Mostert and Wilson.

Overall, while Achane’s injury is a blow to the Dolphins and fantasy managers, it opens up opportunities for other players in the Dolphins’ backfield to step up and contribute significantly.
