6 Fantasy Football WR/CB Matchups to Know (Week 11)

6 Fantasy Football WR/CB Matchups to Know (Week 11)

Fantasy managers are coming into Week 11 knowing that some of their teams cannot afford too many more losses. With just four more weeks of fantasy regular season play left in most leagues, getting wins now is more crucial than ever.

That is why having an edge on the competition by understanding the key WR/CB matchups for this week is crucial.

Here are the six most significant fantasy football WR/CB matchups to know for Week 11.

WR/CB Matchups: Week 11

Advantageous Wide Receiver Matchups

Terry McLaurin (WAS) vs. Adoree’ Jackson (NYG)

Terry McLaurin comes into Week 11 as the WR26 but has not scored double-digit points in back-to-back weeks. However, he arguably has one of the best matchups this week.

While McLaurin has only been scoring 0.32 fantasy points per route run, according to FantasyPoints data, he is still expected to finish inside the top-24 wide receivers this week due to his matchup against Adoree’ Jackson and the New York Giants. The Giants are currently allowing 34 points per game to fantasy wide receivers so far this season, ranking them third-most allowed by teams in the NFL entering Week 11.

Jackson has been a large reason as to why this has happened. Among cornerbacks playing in Week 11, Jackson is giving up the fifth-most fantasy points per route run. Jackson is conceding 0.37 fantasy points per route run against him.

With the Giants struggling on offense with a third-string quarterback, it looks like McLaurin and the Washington Commanders will be taking full advantage in Week 11.

DeVonta Smith (PHI) vs. Jaylen Watson (KC)

DeVonta Smith comes into Week 11 as the WR25 and fresh off his bye week. While he did suffer a slump in Weeks 5-7, managing to only score 14.9 fantasy points in those three games, he has since produced better results for fantasy managers. In Weeks 8 and 9, Smith managed 32 fantasy points, putting him as the WR6 in that span.

This week, he faces Jaylen Watson and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have been stingy at allowing fantasy points to wide receivers. They are only allowing 24.3 fantasy points per game to the position, which is tied for the eighth-fewest in the NFL coming into Week 11.

However, Watson is certainly not playing his part in allowing so few fantasy points. He is conceding 0.40 fantasy points per route run, which is the third-most of any cornerback entering Week 11.

This game is expected to be high-scoring, as DraftKings Sportsbook has the over/under at 45.5 points. Therefore, expect the Eagles to utilize Smith’s speed and try to get him in one-on-one matchups versus Watson. If that happens, Smith can return an excellent week for fantasy managers.

Jalen Guyton (LAC) vs. Carrington Valentine (GB)

Jalen Guyton is one of the waiver wire darlings of Week 11 after a solid performance in Week 10. Guyton amassed a stat line of 4-41-1 on six targets. Only Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen garnered more targets than Guyton.

While Guyton might not be an instant play in some leagues for fantasy managers, he has flex appeal or more in deeper leagues for teams looking to take a shot in matchups where they are expected to lose heavily.

Guyton is up against Carrington Valentine and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are only allowing 23.2 fantasy points per game to fantasy wide receivers, the fifth-fewest of teams in the NFL entering Week 11. However, with Valentine, there is a matchup that Kellen Moore and the offensive coaches of the Los Angeles Chargers can exploit.

Valentine might only be allowing 0.21 fantasy points per route run against him. However, he has struggled to cover speedsters at times this season. And with Herbert looking back to his best in the 41-38 loss to the Detroit Lions this past Sunday, expect Guyton to land a big play and potential score this weekend.

Challenging Wide Receiver Matchups

Gabe Davis (BUF) vs. Sauce Gardner (NYJ)

The Buffalo Bills are struggling at the moment. Three consecutive defeats were enough for the Bills’ hierarchy to fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and replace him with Joe Brady earlyier this week.

Things could potentially get worse for this offense as they face Sauce Gardner and the New York Jets this weekend. The Jets are only allowing 17.2 fantasy points to wide receivers this season, which is the fewest in the NFL. Gabe Davis will have the pleasure of being guarded by reigning Defensive Rookie Player of the Season in Gardner.

Gardner only allows 0.16 fantasy points per route run against him and is being targeted on 12.1% of routes run against him. This is certainly a matchup fantasy managers will want to avoid, if possible, this week.

Jakobi Meyers (LV) vs. Xavien Howard (MIA)

Jakobi Meyers has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers who drafted him so far this season. He comes into the week as the WR17 after some strong performances early on. However, he has struggled since the change in quarterback from Jimmy Garoppolo to Aidan O’Connell.

This week, things don’t get much easier for Meyers, as he is up against Xavien Howard and the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are allowing 29.7 points per game to wide receivers. This is the 12th-most allowed in the NFL through Week 10. However, Howard has been particularly stingy against receivers.

Howard is allowing only 0.19 fantasy points per route run against him. He is also only being targeted on 13.2% of route run against him. The Raiders will have better matchups to exploit than Meyers this week. Therefore, expect Meyers to have a down Week 11.

A.J. Brown (PHI) vs. L’Jarius Sneed (KC)

While Smith has a great matchup against the Chiefs, A.J. Brown certainly has a more difficult one. While Brown is an elite receiver, coming into this week as the WR2 in fantasy football and scoring 0.67 fantasy points per route run, also ranked second overall amongst all wide receivers, this matchup is not to be underestimated.

L’Jarius Sneed is allowing only 0.17 fantasy points per route run against him this season. This ranks as the seventh-fewest among all cornerbacks entering Week 11.

I would still expect Brown to have a good week, and he is still a must-start in all formats for fantasy managers. However, do not be surprised to see Smith be the more productive of the two receivers this week.
