Sam LaPorta (calf) officially questionable for Sunday
Sam LaPorta (calf) is officially questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
A calf injury will leave LaPorta’s status for Sunday’s game up in the air. He suffered the injury earlier this week, but he was able to return to practice on Friday and told reporters that he expects to play against Tampa Bay. It remains to be seen if that will be the case or not, but if the rookie is active, he will be a must-start fantasy option at the position in Week 6.

What the Experts Are Saying
TBD. Comments suggest he’s going to play, but the data still slightly favors sitting. 60% of pass-catchers of his profile would not make it out there following a Thursday aggravation of even a mild mid-game calf strain. If he does play, the performance impact projects to be low, but re-injury risk is high at ~20%.

Sammy Ballgame is the TE3 in fantasy points per game. Among 34 qualifying tight ends, he ranks sixth in target share, first in YPRR, and 12th in first-read share. Ballgame has been a revelation. This matchup will be one of the toughest he has faced yet. Tampa Bay has allowed the fifth-lowest yards per reception and the eighth-fewest receiving yards to tight ends. LaPorta popped up on the injury report this week (calf). He didn’t practice on Thursday but was able to sneak in a limited practice on Friday. He has been listed as questionable.
