Will Diontae Johnson Play in Week 7? (2023 Fantasy Football)

Week 7 has arrived! Unfortunately, the injury watch for fantasy managers is also here. Players who appear on the Friday injury report and haven’t practiced much during the week can often lead to trepidation for managers trying to make lineup decisions and/or waiver claims. Don’t fret, though – FantasyPros is here to provide you with all of the latest news and updates on the players who are questionable heading into the weekend.

Diontae Johnson has not played since Week 1 due to a hamstring injury, but the Steelers activated him off IR this week. There is some question of whether or not he will play in Week 7. Here’s a look at the latest.

Diontae Johnson (hamstring) activated from injured reserve

Diontae Johnson (hamstring) has been activated from injured reserve by the Pittsburgh Steelers according to Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson will return for a Pittsburgh offense that has yet to move the ball consistently to begin the season, although fantasy managers will need to temper expectations as the wideout returns to action against the Rams Sunday.

What the Experts Are Saying

Johnson will return this week. He only played 43% of the snaps in Week 1 before his hamstring failed him, so we will go back to the 2022 numbers to figure out his possible usage this week. Last year, among 81 qualifying wide receivers, Johnson was 14th in Target share (24.5%), 20th in air-yard share (32.6%), and 17th in first-read share (30.8%). If Johnson returns to a full workload, he will be a WR3 with WR2 upside based on target volume alone. Week 7 Positional Value: WR3 with WR2 upside
