This is an excellent slate to play some GPPs. I don’t remember the last time I saw so many question marks going into a slate, and it’ll make things fascinating from a DFS perspective. Not only do we have numerous teams on bye, but we also have more injuries now than any previous point in the season. It makes things unpredictable, but it’s a great time to dip your toes into the GPP waters.
NFL Week 7 DFS GPP Picks
The players below are ones I’m looking at for GPP considerations for Week 7.
DraftKings Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR): $6,500 vs. PIT
Stafford is going to be a Top 10 quarterback in no time. His lack of touchdowns has been holding him back, but he is Top 5 in air yards, passing yards, and pass attempts. That’s amazing since he just got back the best wideout in the NFL and should be throwing a ton to Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. We also don’t mind that Pittsburgh posts a 19th OPRK against opposing quarterbacks.
Geno Smith (QB – SEA): $6,000 vs. ARI
It’s been a rough start for Geno, but this Top 10 quarterback from last season should return to form sooner rather than later. He still has all the weapons in place and gets an astounding matchup against Arizona. The Cardinals allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, with Smith scoring 22 DraftKings points in their most recent matchup.
FanDuel Quarterbacks
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL): $8,300 vs. DET
Most people won’t use Lamar at this lofty price with the lackluster fantasy production, but this speedster is actually playing some of the best football of his career. Inefficiencies in the red zone have held him back, but a big game is right around the corner with his elite running out of the quarterback position. He’s scored at least 18 FanDuel points in four of his last five outings and will look to do that again that since Detroit is dominant against opposing running backs.
Deshaun Watson (QB – CLE): $7,500 at IND
It looks like Watson should return this week, and it’s likely nobody will roster him after missing the last two games. He quietly broke out before that, scoring at least 21 FanDuel points in two of three games. That’s the stud we remember from his Houston days, and it could continue in this matchup. Indy has a 25th OPRK against opposing signal-callers, and Watson has scored at least 18 FanDuel points in all six of his career matchups against the Colts.
DraftKings Running Backs
Aaron Jones (RB – GB): $6,800 at DEN
This is the same reasoning as Watson. Many people will fade Jones after missing most of the last three weeks, but this is not the time to avoid him. Jones is still the workhorse back in Green Bay and is expected to return to that role after the bye. We saw him drop 27 DraftKings points in Week 1 and he could surpass that against Denver. The Broncos have been allowing the most fantasy points to opposing rushers and are on pace to set records in that regard.
Brian Robinson (RB – WAS): $5,800 at NYG
We just love Robinson’s role. He’s regularly getting 10-15 carries and handling most of the goal-line work in Washington. That’s all you can hope for from a sub-$6K player, especially since B-Rob has at least 13 DraftKings points in four of six games while posting a 14-point average. That should be easy to duplicate against NY, surrendering the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing rushers.
FanDuel Running Backs
Rhamondre Stevenson (RB – NE): $6,600 vs. BUF
This is risky, but we saw some signs from Stevenson last week! A Top 10 back last season, Stevenson had been one of the biggest busts through the opening month, but he had a season-high 16 FanDuel points last week. We expect lines like that more regularly moving forward, and this is the one spot you can exploit Buffalo. The Bills allow 5.4 yards per carry, the second-worst mark in the NFL.
Javonte Williams (RB – DEN): $6,000 vs. GB
This Green Bay-Denver matchup is expected to stay close, meaning Williams should be utilized heavily as their starting running back. In his return to action last week, Williams had 10 carries for 52 yards. That solid stat line should be his floor as we advance, and we’re likely looking at 15 carries a game after picking up double-digit carries in every game he’s finished this season. That’s hard to overlook against the Packers, who have a 28th OPRK against opposing backs.
DraftKings Wide Receivers
Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS): $5,400 at NYG
Scary Terry is a menace, and he’s finally becoming the go-to wideout in this offense. McLaurin has double-digit targets in two of his last three games, recording at least 80 yards in both of those. He’s also had his way with the Giants throughout his career, averaging over 15 DraftKings points per game against them in their eight matchups. That’s hard to find from a $5,400 player who’s on the uptick!
Marquise Brown (WR – ARI): $5,300 at SEA
Brown had a nightmarish Week 6, but he’s been brilliant outside of that. Downtown Brown had at least 16 DraftKings points in each of his previous four games before that rare dud, picking up at least 10 targets in four of his last five outings. We love that against this Seattle secondary, who has been surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing pass-catchers this season.
FanDuel Wide Receivers
Davante Adams (WR – LVR): $8,000 at CHI
Adams won’t be rostered much after stinking it up the last two weeks, but this stud will start rolling sooner rather than later. He’s been a Top 5 wide receiver over the last five years, and it’s just a matter of time before the Raiders start force-feeding him after complaining about the lack of targets. We’ll bet on it starting here against Chicago, since they are surrendering the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL this season.
Tyler Lockett (WR – SEA): $6,800 vs. ARI
Lockett is a bit too cheap. This guy has been one of the most reliable receivers over the last decade, and it’s strange to see him sitting below $7K. He had 21 catches on 31 targets over the last four weeks and should return to a stud with that sort of opportunity. Facing Arizona is the icing on the cake, with the Cardinals allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
DraftKings Tight Ends
Darren Waller (TE – NYG): $5,000 vs. WAS
Waller is one of my favorite tight ends in the NFL, and it feels like he’s starting to get going. He’s had 13 catches on 18 targets over the last two games and is finally being utilized the way he should be in this offense. He was a Top 3 tight end in this type of role in the past and should have success against a Washington team with a 25th OPRK against opposing tight ends.
FanDuel Tight Ends
Zach Ertz (TE – ARI): $5,000 at SEA
It’s hard to understand why Ertz remains so cheap. This guy ranks Top 5 in air yards and targets among all tight ends, recording at least six catches in half of the games this season. That’s what you want from one of your GPP plays, especially since he faces one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.
DraftKings Defense/Special Teams
Las Vegas Raiders D/ST: $3,800 at CHI
Nobody is going to use Vegas at this price, but we will! The matchup is their most significant asset, facing a Chicago team who will be missing their starting quarterback and running back. That’s terrifying since they were terrible with those guys, posting a 29th OPRK against opposing D/STs. It’s not like the Raiders have been lousy on defense either, allowing 24 points or fewer in all but one game this year.
FanDuel Defense/Special Teams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST: $4,000 vs. ATL
Few people will use Tampa either, but they’re a tempting option at this price. Paying $4K at any position on FanDuel is fantastic, and this is a matchup they could go off. Atlanta has been allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing D/STs, with Desmond Ridder throwing three picks last week. That’s awesome since the Bucs haven’t allowed more than 23 points in any game this season.
