Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for this week’s NFL action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NFL more/less picks.
Sleeper Picks NFL Week 5
Season record: 6-9
Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA): 88.5 receiving yards
Tyreek is facing the New York Giants and is listed at just 88.5 receiving yards. Need I say more? In all seriousness, Tyreek has a wonderful Week 5 matchup against a struggling Giants team and will be the focal point of an offense hell-bent on righting the ship after a landscape-altering loss to the Buffalo Bills. Tyreek has recorded 157 or more receiving yards in two of his four games this season and appears primed to explode against a New York Giants defense that has struggled to contain anyone. There is the potential for a large blowout to lead to negative gamescript, but Tyreek should eat early and often enough to hit 89 receiving yards with relative ease. Tap more on Tyreek for Week 5.
Pick: More
Anthony Richardson (QB – IND): 0.5 rushing touchdowns
Anthony Richardson has scored at least one rushing touchdown in every game this season and will score another if the Colts can get to the red zone. The matchup is a tougher one, especially with Mike Vrabel coaching on the opposing sideline, but Richardson is a special talent who has a nose for the end zone. The potential return of Jonathan Taylor could really open things up for Richardson, especially in the red zone, but Zack Moss has been an admirable spot starter in his absence. Regardless of who is sharing the backfield with Richardson, it would be a mild surprise if Richardson did not extend his historic streak to four games. Tap More on Richardson for Week 5.
Pick: More
David Montgomery (RB – DET): 70.5 rushing yards
Montgomery is the unquestioned lead back in Detroit and will be until further notice. Gibbs still has some adjustments to make to truly realize his potential and not leave yards on the field. Conversely, Montgomery is a missed tackles forced/broken tackles darling who always falls forward, creating rushing yards over expectation. He is going to continue to see volume for the foreseeable future and is a worthwhile addition to your Sleeper Picks card for Week 5. Monty has rushed for 74 or more yards in two of his three games this season and should have the gamescript to see another 20+ carry night against the Carolina Panthers. Click More on Montgomery where appropriate.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
