Another decent week last week, with Joe Burrow, Breece Hall and the Steelers’ defense being some of my best calls. Of course, I had some misses like Nico Collins and James Cook, but you can’t win them all. Let’s jump into this week…
NFL DFS Value Picks to Target: Week 6
Quarterback
DraftKings
Matthew Stafford (LAR) vs. ARI $6,100
The Cardinals have been a defense all season that QBs have been able to throw on with ease. We saw the breakout game last week from Joe Burrow against this defense, and now Stafford gets his turn. The Cardinals give up the third most points to QBs and are ranked 30th in pass defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) per FTNfantasy.
Others to Consider: Geno Smith (SEA) $5,700 | Gardner Minshew (IND) $5,000
Fanduel
Gardner Minshew (IND) @ JAC $6,500
Minshew will get his first start against the team that made him a social media sensation when Minshew-Mania was in full effect. The Jags give up the fifth most points to quarterbacks, and the Colts will need to score points to keep up with this Jags offense that has started to look better of late.
Others to Consider: C.J. Stroud (HOU) $6,900
Running Back
DraftKings
Roschon Johnson (CHI) vs. MIN $4,600
It’s still unclear if Johnson will clear the concussion protocol in time for this weekend’s game, but if he is cleared, I prefer him over D’Onta Foreman on DraftKings. Foreman is not involved in the passing game, whereas Johnson played as a passing down running back before suffering the concussion. The Vikings’ defense has played well against the run this season, but Johnson’s price tag is just too cheap not to play.
Others to Consider: Brian Robinson (WAS) $5,700 | Dameon Pierce (HOU) $5,100
Fanduel
D’Onta Foreman (CHI) vs. MIN $6,000
I mentioned I liked Roschon Johnson on DraftKings. Well, I like Foreman on Fanduel. With the half-PR format on Fanduel, I much prefer the big bruising back that will likely be used in goal-to-go situations. If Johnson is somehow ruled out, I like Foreman even more. As long as the Bears can keep pace with the Vikings’ offense, I think Foreman could have a monster game.
Others to Consider: Dameon Pierce (HOU) $5,900
Wide Receiver
DraftKings
Josh Downs (IND) @ JAC $4,100
Whenever Gardner Minshew has been the QB for the Colts, Downs has been a target hog. In Week 3, with Minshew getting the start for an injured Anthony Richardson, Downs had eight catches on 12 targets, and then last week, in his best fantasy performance of his career, he had six catches for 97 yards — most of it with Minshew under center.
Others to Consider: Kj Osborn (MIN) $4,400 | Drake London (ATL) $4,800
Fanduel
Jordan Addison (MIN) @ CHI $6,700
I’ll take the low-hanging fruit here. Everyone knows that Justin Jefferson is out for at least the next four weeks — either Addison or KJ Osborn will be tasked with stepping into a larger role. I like Addison to be that guy, even though Osborn has gotten more snaps through the first five weeks. Both guys will be highly owned as cheap options this week, but if forced to pick one, give me Addison.
Others to Consider: KJ Osborn (MIN) $6,200
Tight End
DraftKings
Kyle Pitts (ATL) vs. WAS $3,500
We had a Kyle Pitts sighting last week! He saw 11 targets! Could the Falcons have finally realized that Kyle Pitts is #GoodAtFootball? I’m willing to pay $3,500 to find out. The Commanders are the 26th-ranked pass defense so far this season, so give me Pitts at a sub-4k price, and let’s hope this is the start of something we’ve all been hoping to see.
Others to Consider: Logan Thomas (WAS) $3,500
Fanduel
Tyler Conklin (NYJ) vs. PHI $4,900
The way you beat the Eagles is through the air, and don’t look now, but Zach Wilson is starting to look like a competent quarterback. Granted, this Eagles defense can make good QBs look like Zach Wilson, but I digress. Excluding Week 1, when the Jets lost Aaron Rodgers after four plays, and the entire offense was shell-shocked, Conklin has had at least five targets in every game.
Defense
DraftKings
Detroit Lions @ TB $2,700
The Lions’ defense is legit, and this price tag is somewhat disrespectful. This is a team that had seven sacks in Week 3 and five sacks in Week 4. Surprisingly, the Bucs have been able to keep Baker Mayfield‘s jersey relatively clean. Still, I’m expecting a big game from outside pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson this week, and this Lions’ defense will easily pay off this salary.
Fanduel
Houston Texans vs. NO $3,700
The Texans have been very up and down this season defensively, but I like this matchup in their home stadium against the visiting Saints. The Saints’ offense is ranked 23rd overall in DVOA per FTNFantasy, and Derek Carr still doesn’t look right with that AC Joint sprain he is playing with.
