Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin, Austin Ekeler, Tank Dell

Winning the trade market is at least as important as nailing the draft. Aside from the waiver wire’s massive impact in the season’s first few weeks, trading is the best way to improve your squad quickly. Great buy-low moves can set you up for victory in the short term and down the stretch. Solid sell-high deals can get you big hauls for overachieving players who likely won’t sustain their production.

Here are all the players the experts are trading this week. Below we dive into a few notable names. And be sure to check out our weekly trade value chart with updated values for all players.

Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Week 8

Tank Dell (WR – HOU)

Tank Dell suffered a concussion in Week 5 and hasn’t played since. However, the rookie should return this week following the Texans’ bye and is my favorite buy-low trade target. He averaged 6.7 targets and 14.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game from Week 2 through Week 4. According to Fantasy Points Data, Dell led the team in route participation and air-yards share during those three weeks. The rookie has appealing matchups during the second of the year, starting this week against the Carolina Panthers. Furthermore, his fantasy playoff schedule includes two matchups against the Tennessee Titans’ awful secondary that just traded away their top safety. I would flip a wide receiver like Joshua Palmer or Kendrick Bourne for the rookie.”

Austin Ekeler (RB – LAC)

Austin Ekeler went late 1st round in most fantasy football drafts this season but has played more like a 20th-round draft pick. He is my favorite buy-low trade candidate for the rest of this season because upon returning from injury, he’s had two very tough matchups against Dallas and Kansas City. The schedule gets easier for him this week against the Chicago Bears. Let’s not forget that Austin Ekeler had 117 rushing yards, 47 receiving yards, and 1 TD in week 1 of this season. He’s capable of these numbers on a weekly basis. I’m willing to give up Bijan Robinson in exchange for Austin Ekeler. ”

Chris Godwin (WR – TB)

“I see Chris Godwin as a sneaky buy-low candidate. The veteran has yet to score this season but is tied for 10th among wide receivers with nine red zone targets – the same number as five-time touchdown scorer Courtland Sutton. I have Godwin with a 3.14 expected touchdown shortfall, which is the sixth-highest at his position. I would aim to trade a shorter-term asset like Kareem Hunt or Darrell Henderson for him, hoping that your league mate is frustrated with the lack of touchdowns.”
Scott Spratt (FTN)

Tee Higgins (WR – CIN)

Tee Higgins only has one good week this season, but I expect a bounceback is coming. Outside of this team’s high passing volume and Ja’Marr Chase being a star, I believe you should forget everything you’ve seen from this Bengals team before their Bye. This season, Joe Burrow was not himself, but with the extra week off, you can expect he’ll be back to being Shiesty. Last season, we saw Higgins average 13.7 fantasy points in his healthy games, which would have put him as the WR10. This might be the last opportunity to get a piece of this offense that could become nuclear. I’d trade Chris Olave or Devonte Smith for Higgins. ”
