Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Saquon Barkley, Puka Nacua, Deebo Samuel, David Montgomery

Winning the trade market is at least as important as nailing the draft. Aside from the waiver wire’s massive impact in the season’s first few weeks, trading is the best way to improve your squad quickly. Great buy-low moves can set you up for victory in the short term and down the stretch. Solid sell-high deals can get you big hauls for overachieving players who likely won’t sustain their production.

Here are all players experts plan to buy and sell this week. Belowe we dive into a few notable trade candidates. And be sure to check out our weekly trade value chart with updated values for all players.

Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Week 5

Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG)

Saquon Barkley is my favorite sell-high candidate at this point of the season. He is scheduled to return in Week 5 as he is recovering from an ankle sprain. The New York Giants are abysmal on offense and have packed it in for the rest of the season. Barkley’s fantasy value is bound for serious regression. The trading window is closing fast. I would be willing to sell Barkley for running backs such as Kenneth Walker III, Derrick Henry, or David Montgomery. ”

Puka Nacua (WR – LAR)

“As much as I hate to say it, if you are in need of improving your roster, the player is Puka Nacua. I have been a supporter since rookie drafts due to his landing spot and college talent, and he is proving me right at every corner! He is averaging 13 targets a game! The problem is that Cooper Kupp is coming back soon, and while I still believe Puka has a role, I think it will be diminished. So, trade him now for a top 12 running back, which in my dream world is Achane, but probably more of a Swift, Cook, Henry type.”

Deebo Samuel (WR – SF)

“My favorite sell-high candidate is Deebo Samuel at this point in the season. Samuel is the 15th-ranked WR in half-PPR, which is heavily influenced by a Week 3 game that Brandon Aiyuk missed. Deebo Samuel has some good fantasy points on the season and name value on top of it, but it will not surprise me if Brandon Aiyuk has more fantasy points this season than Deebo Samuel. I would check with my league mate who has Ja’Marr Chase and see how the frustration meter is looking to see if I can get Chase for Deebo Samuel straight up, thinking that Chase and the Bengals will figure it out down the stretch. A more realistic deal for Deebo Samuel would be to get Breece Hall and Romeo Doubs in a two-for-one deal.”

David Montgomery (RB – DET)

“After a big week four performance, I would be looking to sell high on David Montgomery. I still believe that rookie Jahmyr Gibbs will eventually continue to get more work in the offense at some point this year. Don’t expect the Lions to be in situations consistently where they are leading and can wear down a defense with Montgomery. We know that Montgomery’s production has never been consistent for fantasy. If you can flip the Lions’ running back for Jaylen Waddle or Jahmyr Gibbs, I’d consider that.”
