Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Christian Watson, Alexander Mattison, Jaylen Waddle (Week 5)

Winning the trade market is at least as important as nailing the draft. Aside from the waiver wire’s massive impact in the season’s first few weeks, trading is the best way to improve your squad quickly. Great buy-low moves can set you up for victory in the short term and down the stretch. Solid sell-high deals can get you big hauls for overachieving players who likely won’t sustain their production.

Here are all players experts plan to buy and sell this week. Belowe we dive into a few notable trade candidates. And be sure to check out our weekly trade value chart with updated values for all players.

Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Week 5

Christian Watson (WR – GB)

Christian Watson made his first appearance of the year and, on 46% of snaps, still caught a touchdown. This guy has a nose for the end zone and has big play ability. Green Bay gets 10 days off before they play again, and Watson should be even healthier coming into week 5. The Packers go on a great stretch, playing five of the best fantasy wide receiver matchups in their next 7 weeks (LV, BYE, DEN, MIN, LAR, PIT, and LAC). Watson should emerge as the #1 in this offense and could be a league-winning acquisition.”
David Heilman (Sports Gambling Podcast Network)

Christian Watson is my favorite buy-low right now. People are getting impatient and saw Romeo Doubs do well last week, even with Watson back. Watson was on a snap count, though, and Watson is the clear better talent. I’d still rank Watson as a top-20 WR for the rest of the season.”
Robert Norton (Last Word On Sports)

Alexander Mattison (RB – MIN)

“While Alexander Mattison has played well the past two weeks, I’m buying low on Cam Akers. He got out-snapped 33-14 by Mattison in Week 4. However, Akers averaged more yards per rushing attempt (8-5.6) and had a higher percentage of his rushing attempts go for double-digit yards (20%-17.7%) than Mattison. Furthermore, he had a higher TPRR (33.3%-11.1%) and route participation rate (75%-56.3%). If Mattison starts to struggle on the ground or hold onto the ball, Akers could take the starting role. I would trade any Baltimore Ravens running back or Devin Singletary in a heartbeat for Akers.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

Jaylen Waddle (WR – MIA)

Jaylen Waddle is my buy-low candidate to trade for at this point in the season. He’s just not seeing targets at this point, but I expect this to pick up as team defenses focus more of their attention on Tyreek Hill. I’d be willing to give up someone like Nico Collins, who is currently a WR3 but initially ranked outside of the top 50.”
Jeff Boggis (Fantasy Football Empire)

Jaylen Waddle is currently WR #57 in 0.5 PPR but is on one of the best offenses in the league. He has been plagued recently by a concussion and a Buffalo game that wasn’t great for most of the Miami passing game. He is a top talent who has started his career with two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He is going to catch his stride as the Miami Dolphins offense starts rolling again and can be added to your roster for young overachieving talent like Tank Dell and Tutu Atwell or possibly an RB2 to a needy team.”
