Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books. Hopefully, your team pulled out the victory. However, the only easy win was last week’s win. So, let’s look at the top streaming quarterback options for Week 7.
All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN 1QB leagues and under 25% in superflex leagues.
Streaming Targets in 1QB Leagues
With six teams on a bye and multiple other starting quarterbacks injured, fantasy players must get creative with streaming off the waiver wire. One of those injured quarterbacks is Jones. After missing the Week 6 matchup, the former Duke star hopes to play against the Commanders. However, fantasy players can feel confident starting Taylor as a last-ditch option. The veteran had a solid performance against a talented Buffalo Bills defense, completing 66.7% of his pass attempts for 200 yards and 10.4 fantasy points despite not scoring a touchdown.

Streaming Targets in 1QB Leagues

Regardless of which New York quarterback starts, they face an extremely fantasy-friendly Washington defense. The Commanders have been a bottom-five team at slowing down opposing quarterbacks, giving up 24.1 fantasy points per game to the position since Week 1. They have surrendered at least 21 fantasy points in all but one contest. Furthermore, Desmond Ridder has 307 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 16.1 fantasy points against the Commanders despite throwing three interceptions in the game. Hopefully, this is a get-right game for the New York offense.
Unfortunately, Mayfield struggled coming off the bye week, totaling 206 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and only 6.8 fantasy points against the Detroit Lions. However, the former No. 1 overall pick played well before the bye week. He averaged 16.9 fantasy points per game, scoring 16 or more in all but one contest. Furthermore, Mayfield averaged 1.8 passing touchdowns per game before the bye. While the veteran suffered a hand injury late in Week 6, he should be ready to play this coming Sunday against the Falcons.
Atlanta’s defense has improved this year. They gave up more than one passing touchdown only once over the first five weeks. However, the Falcons got obliterated by Sam Howell in Week 6, giving up three passing touchdowns and 18.3 fantasy points on only 23 pass attempts, a season-low for the former UNC star. Furthermore, Atlanta has surrendered 1.8 passing touchdowns and 17.5 fantasy points per game since facing Bryce Young in Week 1. Mayfield should rebound after a poor performance.
Streaming Targets in Superflex Leagues
Following his impressive performance against the Atlanta Falcons, the former UNC star has been a solid starting option for fantasy players in almost every game this season. Howell had zero touchdowns, four interceptions, and 0.6 fantasy points against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. However, he has averaged 266 passing yards and 20 fantasy points per game in the other five games this year, totaling 10 touchdowns and only three turnovers in those contests. Furthermore, Howell has been on fire lately. Over the past three weeks, the second-year player has been a top-five quarterback, averaging 21.1 fantasy points per game.
This week, he faces a fantasy-friendly matchup against the division rival Giants. Josh Allen struggled against New York Sunday night, totaling 13.9 fantasy points. However, the superstar got hurt in the game and still had two passing touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Giants have surrendered 1.6 passing touchdowns and 17.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks since Week 1, giving up 16.9 or more fantasy points in 60% of those matchups. The Commanders’ defense has forced Howell and the offense to throw the ball more than they would like this year. Expect that trend to continue this week.
Derek Carr (QB – NO) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (14.9% Rostered)
Carr started the season poorly, averaging 212 passing yards and only 9.8 fantasy points per game over the first three weeks. He had only two touchdowns during that span, scoring fewer than 8.2 fantasy points twice. The veteran was even worse in Week 4, playing through a shoulder injury, and had his worst fantasy performance this year. However, Carr has played well over the past two weeks against two solid defenses, averaging 268 passing yards, 1.5 touchdowns, and 16 fantasy points per game. More importantly, the veteran has an appealing matchup in Week 7.
The Jaguars held Gardner Minshew to only 9.6 fantasy points last week. However, the veteran quarterback had 329 passing yards and a touchdown in the loss. Furthermore, he would have scored nearly 18 fantasy points if not for the four self-inflected turnovers. Meanwhile, Jacksonville surrendered 22.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks not named Desmond Ridder over the first five weeks, giving up at least 20 in every contest. While he is still recovering from the shoulder injury, Carr should be ready to play Thursday night.
Streamers to Avoid
Typically, streaming articles tell you which players to target off the waiver wire. However, I will give one quarterback each week that you should avoid.
After struggling in Week 1, Dobbs had an impressive three-week run. From Week 2 through Week 5, the veteran was the QB6, averaging 21.9 fantasy points per game, totaling at least 17.1 in every contest. Unfortunately, the hot streak has come to an end. Over the past two weeks, Dobbs has completed only 49.3% of his pass attempts for 200.5 yards, one touchdown, and 9.4 fantasy points per game, scoring fewer than 10.2 in both contests. He has zero turnovers during his three-week hot streak but has five over the past two weeks.
Yet, things won’t turn around in Week 7. The Seahawks have played well on defense this year. While they surrendered three passing touchdowns and 22.9 fantasy points to Jared Goff in Week 2, Seattle has held all other quarterbacks to 15.1 fantasy points per game this season. Furthermore, Joe Burrow had only 185 passing yards and 13.8 fantasy points against the Seahawks last week despite playing at home. Unfortunately, Dobbs has to play in Seattle this week. It’s going to be an ugly performance for the veteran quarterback.
