Fantasy Football Outlook: Logan Thomas, Adam Thielen, Matthew Stafford, Jake Ferguson

Every week we’ll bring you The Primer, a deep dive into every fantasy-relevant player from every NFL game of the week. You can find the full weekly Primer here. Below we dive into a few notable players ahead of this weekend’s games.

Fantasy Football Outlook

Logan Thomas: After last week’s monster game, Thomas is the TE6 in fantasy. In the three full games he has played, he has commanded a 17.1% target share and 17.7% first-read share with 1.48 YPRR. Thomas is tied for the team lead with four red zone targets. The Falcons are a wonderful matchup for Thomas to get fed against in Week 6. Atlanta has surrendered the fifth-most receiving yards and the second-most fantasy points to tight ends. Week 6 Positional Value: TE1

Adam Thielen: Thielen is the WR10 in fantasy. Yes, I am as surprised as you are to read that. Among 126 qualifying wide receivers, he ranks 23rd in target share (22.8%), 31st in YPRR (2.03), and 16th in first-read share. Miami utilizes zone coverage at the 12th-highest rate (74.2%) in the NFL. This season against zone, Thielen’s target share drops to 17.3% while his YPRR falls to 1.55, and his first-read share decreases to 24.7%. Thielen has only two deep targets, and two red zone targets this season. Thielen will run about 71% of his routes against Kader Kohou (85.2% catch rate and 129.9 passer rating). Miami has allowed the sixth-most PPR points to slot wide receivers. Week 6 Positional Value: WR2/3

Matthew Stafford: Stafford is the QB18 in Fantasy this season, but a lot of that has to do with touchdowns because his level of play and other various metrics all scream he should be a QB1. Stafford ranks sixth in passing grade, first in big-time throw rate, and fourth in passing yards. He is 16th in passing touchdowns with only five, but that will change. Last week, the Rams, who have been extremely run-heavy in the red zone, passed on 66.7% of their plays inside the 20 (eighth-highest). Arizona has been giving it up to quarterbacks this season. They have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points via passing while also permitting the sixth-highest yards per attempt, the seventh-highest passer rating, and the fourth-highest adjusted completion rate. Stafford monster game is incoming. Week 6 Positional Value: QB1

Jake Ferguson: Ferguson is the TE14 ranking 12th in target share (16.4%), eighth in YPRR, 30th in route run rate (57.0%), and 11th in first-read share. Ferguson is a TE2 with a tough matchup this week. Los Angeles has allowed the tenth-lowest receiving yards and the eighth-fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Week 6 Positional Value: TE2
