Khalil Herbert (ankle) still not practicing Thursday

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) missed his second practice of the week as he looks to return from a Week 5 injury.

Fantasy Impact

Herbert seemed to run away with the RB1 job on Thursday night, but an ankle injury seems to have set that back. Herbert has 272 rushing yards in five games and is averaging over five yards per carry. His timetable to return is unclear, and with RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) also missing practice, RB D’Onta Foreman seems like the temporary RB1.

Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) practices in full Thursday

Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) was a full participant in Detroit’s practice on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

St. Brown was out last week because of an abdomen injury, but he’s getting better and was able to log a full practice on Thursday. This is a terrific sign for his Week 6 availability and indicates that he just had a muscle strain rather than a hernia, which could’ve left him sidelined for weeks. It looks like he will play this weekend, making Josh Reynolds a lot less of an appealing streaming option against the Buccaneers.

Tee Higgins: WR says it’s looking ‘promising’ for Week 6

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (rib) said that it’s looking promising that he’ll be available for Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Impact

Two of the strongest offenses in the NFL in 2022 face off against each other on Sunday, and a return from Higgins could help further bolster the Bengals who finally looked like themselves in Week 5. Higgins hinted about the possibility of playing in Week 5 and said his status was more determined by his pain tolerance. It’s possible that, with a bye week looming in Week 7, the Bengals bubble wrap Higgins, but if he feels good enough to return, it might be harder to stop him.

Sam LaPorta (calf) doesn’t practice Thursday

Sam LaPorta (calf) did not participate at Detroit’s practice on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

LaPorta is a new surprise addition to Detroit’s injury report, being listed with a calf injury of some kind that left him sidelined. This is the first we’re hearing of his injury, and that’s now a good sign. Calf injuries tend to linger, so unless this is a very minor issue that the team is just being careful with, there is some cause for concern for his Week 6 availability. Fantasy managers should pay attention to his practice participation on Friday and status heading into the weekend to get a better idea about whether or not he’ll be healthy for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.
