Elijah Mitchell (knee) ruled out for Week 5

Elijah Mitchell (knee) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Cowboys.

Fantasy Impact

Week 5 will mark the second-straight week that Mitchell has been out because of a knee injury. He didn’t practice all week, and this may continue to be a problem for him for the foreseeable future. Christian McCaffrey had the backfield to himself last week and had an outstanding game, so we can expect more of the same from him despite a tough matchup against Dallas’ defense.

Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) questionable versus Panthers

The Detroit Lions added Jahmyr Gibbs to their injury report Friday, making him questionable to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Impact

Gibbs was off the report all week until he cropped up with a limited practice on Friday, making him questionable against the Panthers. It’s hard to tell much from this mid-week downgrade, and his situation should be monitored. This could mean an even bigger role for RB David Montgomery, as the Lions likely won’t want to push an injured Gibbs against a winless team.

Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) doubtful to play Week 5

The Detroit Lions are listing star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown as doubtful to play in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Impact

St. Brown is the team’s main target hog, meaning the offense will have to operate differently without him. The Lions are potentially getting the return of WR Jameson Williams, meaning he, Josh Reynolds, Khalif Raymond and TE Sam LaPorta will likely have to pick up some of the missing work, assuming St. Brown misses the contest.

Tee Higgins (ribs) officially questionable for Week 5

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins, who suffered a rib injury last week, is officially questionable to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Impact

Higgins’ practice report this week went DNP-DNP-limited, which isn’t a promising sign for a player’s availability, but Higgins said earlier this week that his availability would revolve more around pain tolerance. It’s tough to tell with Higgins what will happen, as his 2022 fantasy managers will recall a game where he was questionable, played one snap and then sat out the remainder of the game. His situation should remain closely monitored for any additional information that could arise.
