Stashing players is one of my favorite things to do. Previously mentioned on this list are Adam Trautman of the Broncos, who scored a touchdown last week, and Keaontay Ingram, who might be the starting running back for the Cardinals this week. Getting ahead of your league mates can be tough, but getting just one or two weeks head start can make a world of difference.
Week 6 Dynasty Fantasy Football Stashes
Bailey Zappe (QB – NE)
The Patriots are a mess right now. Mac Jones had a rough Week 5 and once again, Zappe entered the game in the 4th quarter. He only completed three of his nine passes and scored 0.9 points, but any QB that sees the field is worth rostering in SuperFlex leagues. There’s also a chance that Zappe will take over the starting role at some point this year. Zappe might still be on waivers in your league, but even if he’s not, I’d send an offer to see what it would take to add him to your bench. He might not be a long-term starter for the Pats, but he should see a value bump in the coming weeks if Jones continues to struggle.
Ronnie Rivers (RB – LAR)
In addition to Trautman and Ingram, I also previously listed Rams RB Zach Evans as a dynasty stash, but I’m wondering if Rivers might actually be the better option. Evans has only been activated for one game and he didn’t even touch the ball. On the other hand, Rivers has seen snaps in all five games, has ten carries for 48 yards, and has caught all three targets for 14 yards. Clearly, Rivers is the better back to own. With all of the injuries that happen at the running back position, Rivers is next in line should something happen to lead back Kyren Williams. I’ve added him a lot of places and would consider trading a late-round pick for him if my team was feeling the pain from injuries already. Better safe than sorry.
Chris Brooks (RB – MIA)
Speaking of injuries, De’Von Achane is going to IR for the Dolphins starting in Week 6. Everyone is focusing on Jeff Wilson, and rightfully so, but Brooks might actually be the better dynasty stash. Raheem Mostert has a history of getting hurt, and Wilson has proven to be fragile as well. It’s entirely possible that Brooks will end up with meaningful touches in the next four games while Achane is still healing from his knee injury. Brooks has seen snaps in all five games and carried the ball nine times for 66 yards. Granted, all of those came in the blowout to the Broncos in Week 3, but it’s still a good sign. I’m scooping up Brooks wherever I need a new RB option with upside.
Trenton Irwin (WR – CIN)
Irwin had a stellar Week 5 in terms of his career. He caught eight of his 10 targets for a career-high 60 yards, all of which were career highs. With Tee Higgins being out, a lot of fantasy managers expected Tyler Boyd to get a bump. Instead, it was Irwin, who finished as WR22 on the week. I can’t say for certain, but it looks like the team might be trying to get their younger receivers some work when possible instead of leaning on the old standby of Boyd. Irwin was likely an expensive waiver option this week, but if he’s still available I’d be happy to add him to the end of my bench and see how the season goes. If Higgins misses much time, Irwin could find his way into your flex spot during bye weeks based on his potential volume alone.
Nelson Agholor (WR – BAL)
As shocking as it is, Agholor is the second-best WR on the Ravens through five weeks. He’s outscoring both Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashod Bateman and has been more efficient than Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews. His 37 PPR points on the year are good enough for WR62, tied with Jahan Dotson. Even though Agholor is 30 years old and past his prime for most dynasty managers, he’s a terrific addition to teams that are trying to score points now. If he’s on the bench of a rebuilding team I’d gladly send a late-round pick to get him on my own bench instead. He may not be pretty, but winning is all about points, and right now, Agholor is scoring them in bunches.
Gerald Everett (TE – LAC)
Everett is another aging player that I’m very interested in stashing for multiple reasons. The first is that he’s caught all but one of his 14 targets for 107 yards and no touchdowns. The reason I like this is because touchdowns can be fluky and catching what is thrown your way is not. Secondly, Everett is coming off of his bye so he is clear to go for the rest of the season there. I think the Chargers offense returns to peak form on Monday night and Everett gets involved. Being that he’s been fairly quiet, and he’s 29 himself, a lot of dynasty managers may be overlooking him. If he’s still on waivers, snatch him up before someone else does. If he’s rostered, shoot a low offer over to see what you can do. I’ll gladly ride Everett to the title if he can turn things around down the stretch.
