It’s that time again! Let’s see what we can do with those last few roster spots on your dynasty team. Waivers have run, so you either have the guy you wanted or you missed out. Either way, here are some other deeper players I’m targeting on the free agent list or in trades to stash for the coming weeks. You can thank me later if they turn into gold.

Week 5 Dynasty Fantasy Football Stashes
Mitch Trubisky (QB – PIT)
Steelers QB Kenny Pickett left their Week 4 game against the Texans with a knee injury in the 3rd quarter. He had completed 15 of 23 passes for 114 yards and an interception before getting hurt. At the time, the Steelers were still in the game, only down 16-6, and they turned to Trubisky to see if he could bring them back to victory. Sadly, he could not. Trubisky didn’t look great in the 30-6 loss, completing three of five passes for 18 yards. In his first drive, he went 3 and out, and by the time he got back on the field again, the game was pretty much over.
The fact that Trubisky didn’t look great could work in your favor in dynasty. It’s likely that he’s already rostered, but the current manager might just see his paltry stats and see that Pickett could play in Week 5 and be willing to send him away for a future 3rd round pick. I’m taking that all day. Pickett is far from 100% and has looked very underwhelming in general this year. It’s possible that the team decides to shut Pickett down and hand the QB1 job to Trubisky for good, and if you can get a starting QB for a 3rd round pick, you do that every day of the week, even in 1QB leagues.
Jaleel McLaughlin (RB – DEN)
Waivers have already run, but hopefully you were able to add McLaughlin to your bench. If not, go get him now. He got seven carries for 72 yards and caught three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in a wild overtime win for the Broncos. What you may not realize is that McLaughlin was involved early and often. He touched the ball on six of the team’s nine drives, so he wasn’t only used in garbage time. It’s entirely possible that he gets more looks as the season goes on and as starting RB Javonte Williams nurses a new hip injury. McLaughlin is a premium stash option heading into Week 5.
Pierre Strong (RB – CLE)
Another RB I’m looking to add on the cheap before Week 5 is Strong on the Cleveland Browns. He carried the ball 5 times for a team-high 49 yards on Sunday, most of which came on a 40-yard run at the end of the game. Unlike McLaughlin, Strong may have been the garbage man for the Browns, but that one run alone could get his coaches’ attention heading into Week 5. Jerome Ford hasn’t looked bad, but Strong could start to see more carries, especially if they have more games with more garbage time. He’s likely rostered in most dynasty leagues, but I’m sending an offer or getting him added as a throw-in wherever I can at this point just in case.
Donovan Peoples-Jones (WR – CLE)
Strong’s teammate Donovan Peoples-Jones is another stash candidate for me this week. The Browns looked pretty bad on offense without Deshaun Watson, who missed the game due to injury, and they lost to the Ravens 28-3. That being said, there’s an outside shot that Peoples-Jones returns to the form he showed last year. He earned four targets, the same as Elijah Moore, and he returns punts too. I like the upside that DPJ offers on an offense that has become very unpredictable without Nick Chubb. I’m fine taking the flier on Peoples-Jones if the price is right.
Allen Lazard (WR – NYJ)
We might be living in a world where the biggest beneficiary of Aaron Rodgers‘ injury is none other than Allen Lazard. Can you believe it? Sure, Garrett Wilson is the clear number one receiver, even with Zach Wilson at the helm, but forcing the ball to Wilson isn’t always going to work. Lazard caught all three of his passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Garrett Wilson finished second for the team with 60 yards, and second on the team in PPR scoring as well. I know Lazard didn’t get a lot of looks, but he did a lot with what he got. That speaks volumes to me and could bode well for his future outlook as well. Add him where you can and see how this new-look Jets offense takes flight in the coming weeks.
Andrew Ogletree (TE – IND)
Last but not least is Andrew Ogletree, a tight end I’m stashing where I can. I previously listed Kylen Granson as a stash candidate, as well as a trade riser, because someone had to catch the ball in Indianapolis. Well, this week both tight ends got involved. I figured that since I listed Granson before, I’ll focus on Ogletree this time. Sure, he only caught three of four targets, but he got 48 yards and a touchdown with them. In the current tight end landscape, touchdowns are king. Ogletree finished as TE3 on the week and I’m willing to bet no one started him. I also don’t think he’ll do it again, but he’s worth stashing on the off chance that he does become a thing. If he doesn’t, then you can drop him next week for the new player of the week, right?
