Will Austin Ekeler Play in Week 4? (2023 Fantasy Football)

Week 4 has arrived! Unfortunately, the injury watch for fantasy managers is also here. Players who appear on the Friday injury report and haven’t practiced much during the week can often lead to trepidation for managers trying to make lineup decisions and/or waiver claims. Don’t fret, though – FantasyPros is here to provide you with all of the latest news and updates on the players who are questionable heading into the weekend.

Austin Ekeler has not played since Week 1, when he finished as the overall RB3. Since then, he has been dealing with an ankle injury that also left him limited all week in practice and is now listed as doubtful. Will Austin Ekeler play in Week 4? Here’s what we know.

Austin Ekeler (ankle) listed as doubtful for Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is doubtful to play in Week 4, setting him up for a potential return in Week 6 following their bye.

Fantasy Impact

This should have been expected; while Ekeler was limited all week, he wasn’t at 100%. With the Chargers facing a Week 5 bye, it made the most sense to let him sit. Despite some optimism for Joshua Kelley as a fantasy asset in Weeks 2 and 3, he seems like nothing more than a desperation play after consecutive duds, as the Chargers have focused their sans-Ekeler offense on the passing game.

What the Experts Are Saying

Ekeler has been listed as doubtful. Assume he will be inactive again this week.
