Will Austin Ekeler Play in Week 2? (2023 Fantasy Football)

Week 2 has arrived! Unfortunately, the injury watch for fantasy managers is also here. Players who appear on the Friday injury report and haven’t practiced much during the week can often lead to trepidation for managers trying to make lineup decisions and/or waiver claims. Don’t fret, though – FantasyPros is here to provide you with all of the latest news and updates on the players who are questionable heading into the weekend.

Austin Ekeler suffered an ankle injury in the Chargers’ Week 1 loss to the Dolphins. His agent died earlier in the week as well, and he logged zero practices leading up to Week 2. Can fantasy managers count on their first-round pick being available? Or do they need to turn to a back-up plan? Here’s what we know.

Austin Ekeler (ankle) doubtful for Week 2 versus Titans

Austin Ekeler (ankle) is officially listed as doubtful for the Los Angeles Chargers ahead of their Week 2 contest against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Impact

Ekeler was unable to practice all week, leaving many fantasy owners doubting the star running back would be able to take the field Sunday. Backup Joshua Kelley will likely start and receive even more volume in Ekeler’s absence against the Titans Sunday.

What the Experts Are Saying

Ekeler is dealing with both an ankle injury and the death of his agent, so his status is questionable this week. If he plays, he should be an elite RB1, even against the Titans 2nd ranked fantasy RB defense.
