Friday’s Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick ‘Em Picks
Ozzie Albies: 10.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Albies wrecks lefties and has an outstanding matchup tonight. According to FanGraphs, the switch-hitting second baseman has had a .349 OBP, .237 ISO and 142 wRC+ against southpaws in 387 plate appearances against lefties since 2021.
Conversely, Patrick Corbin is lousy. The veteran lefty has a 5.20 ERA at home. He’s also yielded a .345 OBP, .489 slugging and .356 wOBA to 617 right-handed batters this year.
Austin Riley: 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Riley is also excellent exposure to Atlanta’s offense and correlates with Albies. In 461 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Riley has had a .367 OBP, .259 ISO and 147 wRC+. And, again, if Albies and Riley both rake, they can help each other eclipse their props since Albies is the No. 2 hitter and Riley hits directly behind him in Atlanta’s lineup.
Bryce Harper: 8.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Harper is a monster with the platoon advantage at home. In 178 plate appearances against righties at Citizens Bank Park this year, Harper has swatted eight homers with a .433 OBP, .219 ISO and 161 wRC+.
The left-handed-hitting Harper should feast against Tylor Megill. New York’s right-handed hurler has allowed a .402 wOBA to 129 lefties on the road this year.
Framber Valdez: 35.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
Valdez pitches like an ace at home. In 96.2 innings at home this year, he’s had a 2.98 ERA, 2.99 xFIP, 1.03 WHIP, 4.5 BB% and 25.5 K%. The veteran lefty should mow down the lackluster Royals.
Kansas City is tied for 26th in wRC+ (89) and has a 23.6 K% versus lefties in 2023. The Royals are 29th in wRC+ (78) and have a 26.5 K% on the road in 2023. Moreover, they’re tied for 16th in wRC+ (98) and have a 23.2 K% in the previous 30 days. Finally, according to Betting Pros, the Astros are -230, and the game’s total is only 8.0 runs.
Mookie Betts: 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher
The Dodgers should smash Sean Manaea, and it starts at the top of the order with Mookie Betts. The 31-year-old lefty has a 6.08 ERA in 53.1 innings on the road this year. He’s also coughed up a .367 wOBA to 162 righties on the road this year.
Betts should get the fireworks started immediately. In 497 plate appearances against lefties this year, he has a .392 OBP, .307 ISO and 168 wRC+. Betts is also white-hot. In the previous 30 days, he’s mashed five taters with three stolen bases, a .465 OBP, .213 ISO and 184 wRC+ in 114 plate appearances.
