Friday’s Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick ‘Em Picks

Royce Lewis: 8.0 Fantasy Points – Higher

Lewis is crushing righties and facing a right-handed pitcher with a severe reverse-platoon split tonight. According to FanGraphs, in 164 plate appearances against righties this season, Lewis has hit 12 homers with a .354 OBP, .272 ISO and 152 wRC+. Conversely, Jesse Scholtens has coughed up a .398 wOBA to 187 righties this year.

Christian Yelich: 7.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

Yelich is having a resurgent season, fairing well with the platoon advantage at home. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has five homers, a .399 OBP, .170 ISO and 135 wRC+ in 213 plate appearances against righties at American Family Field. Yelich is also active on the bases, swiping 27 in 30 stolen-base attempts.

Jake Irvin is a good matchup for Yelich’s fantasy-scoring outlook tonight. Irvin has ceded a .353 OBP, .489 SLG and .362 wOBA to 266 lefties this season.

Jose Altuve: 8.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

Altuve is the catalyst atop Houston’s lineup. The diminutive second baseman has scored 68 runs with 16 homers, 42 RBI, 13 stolen bases, a .397 OBP, .231 ISO and 159 wRC+ in 340 plate appearances this season.

The matchup, betting info and park factors are ideal for Altuve’s offensive potential tonight. First, Zack Greinke has a 5.47 ERA, 5.22 xERA and 4.44 xFIP in 26 appearances (23 starts) in 126.2 innings this year. Second, per Betting Pros, the Astros are -200, and the game’s total is 9.5 runs. Third, Kaufman Stadium has the fifth-highest park factor for runs.

Yordan Alvarez: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher

Alvarez is a second exciting piece of Houston’s offense. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger has hit five doubles and 14 homers with a .310 batting average, .726 slugging and .416 ISO in 143 plate appearances against lefties this year. Meanwhile, Greinke has allowed 15 doubles, one triple, 14 homers, a .330 batting average and .587 slugging to 242 lefties in 2023.

Kyle Tucker: 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

Tucker is another superb piece of left-handed exposure to Greinke. The young outfielder has ripped the cover off the ball with the platoon advantage on the road. In 213 plate appearances against righties on the road this year, Tucker has hit 10 doubles and 12 homers with a .424 OBP, .266 ISO and 172 wRC+.
