Rival Fantasy NFL: Week 3

Challenges

For this week’s social challenge, I have set up a $10 contest between Justyn Ross and Alec Pierce. Ross is still getting acclimated to the NFL game and, quite simply, is not getting a lot of the snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs despite the team’s struggles at the position. I am still in the camp of fans who are hoping he can return to something resembling his pre-injury form and become an impact player for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

I chose Alec Pierce to square off with him due to his early season struggles. He has not been a large part of the team’s offensive focus and has just five targets for three receptions and 33 receiving yards total through two games. He should get going eventually but has so far been behind Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Kyle Granson on the target totem pole. He did not fare any better when Gardner Minshew took over for an injured Anthony Richardson, so it seems to be more scheme and time to throw than a quarterback issue.

The challenge link is here for anyone who feels so inclined. This challenge is not as cut and dry as the previous two weeks but is still one the majority of fantasy gamers would opt for the open Alec Pierce side on.

Fantasy Bingo

Week 2 brought some excitement at Rival Fantasy as I scored my first NFL Fantasy Bingo win, something I thought was going to be quite difficult this season. So, to see it happen in only two weeks was quite the feat. I won with a square on the right bottom side on one of my five cards and scored large enough winnings to fund my Fantasy Bingo cards for the rest of the season. The achievements I hit were 150 or more receiving yards (WR), one field goal missed, one fumble (WR), and more than 100 receiving yards (WR). I got lucky to have the two receiving yard achievements so close together on the card, and that Justin Tucker, the most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, missed a field goal. Suffice it to say that Tucker will not be my rostered kicker going forward, the missed field goal is likely to be more common than long field goal achievements I would count on Tucker to make.

My roster for this week consists of Jalen Hurts, Tony Pollard, Bijan Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, Darren Waller, and Yonghoe Koo. I went back to the five card well this week. Some of the more difficult achievements I have on my cards this week include two receiving TDs in the second quarter (WR), 50+ rushing yards (WR), one rushing TD in the second quarter (WR), one rushing TD and two receiving TDs (RB), more than three receiving TDs (WR), five TDs passing and one rushing TD (QB), three passing TDs in the third quarter (QB), 25 rushing yards (TE), two or more rushing TDs (WR), and three rushing TDs in the fourth quarter (RB).

Looking at my cards, there may be a chance for another square this week if Younghoe Koo can hit a 50 yard field goal. The other achievements needed to hit the square are two field goals made, zero fumbles lost (QB), and more than 100 yards (WR). The two field goals made is very specific, so while it may not seem as difficult as some of the ones listed above, the probability is lower than one may think. Koo hit only two field goals in just four games last season, which equals out to 23.5 percent. Good luck to everyone on your Fantasy Bingo cards this week.
