Rival Fantasy NFL: Week 1

NFL Fantasy Bingo

Week 1 is here, and that means Fantasy Bingo for the NFL is now available. The format is very similar to MLB. Pick a roster with no salary cap while filling the required positions. Choose how many cards you want for the week. Then it’s game on.

At first glance, the NFL version of Fantasy Bingo is going to be much more challenging than MLB. Unlike in MLB, where you can concentrate on three positions and have multiple players from each vie for the specific achievements, in the NFL version, we are required to roll with one quarterback, one tight end, and one kicker, in addition to running backs and wide receivers.

Fewer players contributing to position-specific achievements will make things much tougher. This is especially true when some of the more obscure achievements show up on your card.

Challenging achievements include but are not limited to 200+ rushing yards, three missed field goals, two touchdowns in the third quarter (WR), more than 50 rushing yards (WR), rushing TD in the fourth quarter (WR), 10 plus rushing yards (TE), three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter (RB), four total TDs (QB), 50 yard field goal (K), more than three interceptions (QB), a and two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter (QB).

My cards for this week include the above achievements and more. One or two cards look to have some potential and are the ones I will be following the closest.

Challenges

For Week 1, the challenge I have decided on is Justyn Ross vs. Rashee Rice. Rice is the obvious side to take, so I have left it open for someone to take here. Rice is expected to eventually take on the JuJu Smith-Schuster role and could become the team’s target leader outside of Travis Kelce at some point this season. He may have to fight for his early season role in a deep receiver room but should hit a sprint once he gets going.

Justyn Ross is an enigma. Once a lock to be a first round pick, he was unfortunately diagnosed with a back injury that seemingly ended his career before it started. A miraculous but uneven return to the field at Clemson, combined with complicated medicals, led to him going undrafted. He has been an offseason standout for the second year in a row but will need to stay healthy to stick. However, one thing is certain: these are both extremely talented young receivers who have early season roles that are yet to be determined.
