Sleeper Picks NFL Week 3

Season record: 4-3

Calvin Ridley (WR – JAC): 65.5 receiving yards

Calvin Ridley missed the mark last week, hauling in just two of his eight targets for 32 receiving yards. Ridley had plenty of opportunity by way of targets but was unable to make the most of it against a surprisingly effective Chiefs secondary. The Houston Texans are another story. Derek Stingley went down in practice earlier this week and is not expected to be back for the next six to eight weeks. Tavierre Thomas is also hurt. Ridley should top 70 receiving yards in most of the contests for the rest of the season and appears primed to go off against a banged up Texans secondary. Tap the over.

Pick: More

Zay Flowers (WR – BAL): 48.5 receiving yards

Zay Flowers saw his targets cut in half in Week 2 as Mark Andrews returned to the lineup. The Ravens passing game has yet to hit its stride under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, but Flowers has still topped 62 receiving yards in both games so far this season. He should round out at about seven targets per game this season, so expect a heavier workload against a completely beatable Colts secondary. Flowers should surpass 49 receiving yards with relative ease this week as the Ravens figure to keep passing regardless of gamescript as they attempt to get Lamar Jackson truly going in the new offense. Tap over on Flowers for Week 3.

Pick: More

Jordan Addison (WR – MIN): 49.5 receiving yards

Addison has had an interesting start to the season. He has at least 61 receiving yards and a touchdown in both games to begin his career, but his talent is such that we are left wanting more. Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers may be the day he truly breaks out. The game should turn into a shootout, and Addison will, of course, be in single coverage all game. He has a good enough feel against zone to still eat if the Chargers sell out to stop the pass and should hit 50 receiving yards without breaking much of a sweat. Easy cover tap.

Pick: More

Bonus

Nico Collins (WR – HOU): 53.5 receiving yards

Nico Collins has topped 80 receiving yards in each of the first two games of the season and has seen at least nine targets a game. The targets could drop once C.J. Stroud gets more comfortable with players like Tank Dell and John Metchie, but for now, Collins is the number one receiver. Collins has a very appealing line of just 53.5 receiving yards for this weekend’s matchup against Jacksonville. The Jaguars don’t have much depth or top-end talent at the position, which should allow the Stroud-Collins connection to forge on strong for at least another week. Tap the over on this one.

Pick: More

Puka Nacua (WR – LAR): 65.5 receiving yards

This is honestly one of the most baffling lines I’ve seen. I originally intended to have just one extra pick for this week’s column, but this one is just impossible to ignore. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have heard about the historic start Nacua is having for the Rams. 35 targets in two games are insane, and this monster workload is going to continue for as long as Cooper Kupp remains sidelined. Nacua has hit 119 or more receiving yards in both games this season and is all but certain to hit at least 80 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Matthew Stafford loves his rookie’s ability on slants and crosses, but it’s his feel for how to uncover against both man and zone that truly makes him a perfect fit for the Rams scheme. Enough effusive praise, Nacua hitting 66 receiving yards should be considered fait accompli. Tap the over.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
