And at the latter, the main slate has five games, beginning at 6:40 pm ET. The picks for tonight’s slate are reduced to two starting pitchers, three studs and three values/punts.

Wednesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
One of the most productive pitchers in MLB this season is the top option on this small slate. The second-ranked pitcher has been dynamite lately and is a massive value as an SP2 at DK.

Starting Pitcher Recommendations:

Justin Steele (CHC) vs. PIT
Steele has been brilliant this year and isn't slowing down. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 33.0 innings, the lefty has had a 2.45 ERA, 2.61 xFIP, 1.03 WHIP, 5.4 BB%, 28.5 K%, 26.8 CSW%, 97 Stuff+, 107 Location+ and 106 Pitching+.

Steele should mow down a lousy lineup tonight. The Pirates are 27th in wRC+ (88) and have a 23.5 K% versus lefties in 2023. Pittsburgh is tied for 26th in wRC+ (86) and has a 23.0 K% in the previous 30 days. Finally, they're 23rd in wRC+ (89) and have a 24.6 K% on the road this year.

Michael King (NYY) vs. TOR
King was sharp in the bullpen and hasn't skipped a beat since joining the rotation. In his previous six appearances (five starts) totaling 22.2 innings, he's had a 2.38 ERA, 3.00 xFIP, 1.19 WHIP, 6.5 BB%, 33.3 K%, 32.9 CSW%, 119 Stuff+, 105 Location+ and 109 Pitching+.

The matchup is challenging, creating a risk when using him. The Blue Jays are a top-10 offense by every applicable measure. Nevertheless, per Betting Pros, the Yankees have even odds, and the game's total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs. So, the betting info supports using King as a bargain SP2 at DK.

The Brewers have been an average offense lately, ranking 15th in wRC+ (100) in the previous 30 days. Thankfully, they have a cushy matchup tonight. In Zack Thompson's previous five starts spanning 26.0 innings, he's had a 4.85 ERA and 4.66 xFIP. The lefty has also struggled mightily against righties, allowing a .342 wOBA to them this season.

• In 310 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, William Contreras has hit 16 homers with a .417 OBP, .261 ISO and 174 wRC+.
• Randy Arozarena has clubbed 23 homers with 21 stolen bases, a .376 OBP, .225 ISO and 150 wRC+ in 490 plate appearances against lefties since 2021.
• In 471 plate appearances against righties this year, Mookie Betts has hit 25 dongs with seven stolen bases, a .401 OBP, .249 ISO and 160 wRC+.

• In 553 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Mark Canha has hit 19 homers with a .342 OBP, .181 ISO and 116 wRC+.
• Jordan Walker is on fire to close his rookie season. In his previous 97 plate appearances, he's hit five bombs with a .381 OBP, .233 ISO and 153 wRC+.
• Josh Donaldson's bat has somewhat rebounded with the Brewers. Furthermore, he has an excellent track record against lefties. In 328 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Donaldson has hit 21 homers with a .332 OBP, .270 ISO and 129 wRC+.

Wednesday's Hitter Strategy
The Brewers are the best source of hitters on tonight's main slate since they have a cushy matchup and affordable salaries that fit around the best pitcher.
