Tuesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
The top two pitchers on the table are the best options in cash games and GPPs, respectively. The final two pitchers on the table are the best SP2s at DK and disinteresting on FD.
Cash Game Recommendations:
Freddy Peralta (MIL) vs. MIA
Peralta has pitched outstanding lately. He's also done well at home. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 28.1 innings, Peralta has had a 2.22 ERA, 2.92 xFIP, 2.98 SIERA, 0.88 WHIP, 29.6 CSW%, 92 Stuff+, 103 Location+ and 104 Pitching+. In addition, in 82.2 innings at home this year, he's had a 3.59 ERA, 2.99 xFIP, 0.99 WHIP, 7.5 BB% and 35.2 K%.
Peralta should make the most of a favorable matchup. The Marlins are 21st in wRC+ (90) and have a 21.2 K% versus righties in 2023. Miami is tied for 20th in wRC+ (92) and has a 20.2 K% in the previous 30 days. Finally, they're tied for 21st in wRC+ (90) and have a 22.7 K% on the road this year.
Bryan Woo (SEA) vs. LAA
Woo has an underwhelming 4.50 ERA in 26.0 innings at home this year. However, the rookie righty's 3.89 xFIP, 1.15 WHIP, 5.6 BB% and 29.6 K% are more encouraging.
The matchup can bring the best out of him tonight. The Angels are tied for 12th in wRC+ (103) but have a 24.5 K% versus righties in 2023. They're also playing out the string, ranking 29th in wRC+ (79) with a 23.9 K% in the previous 30 days.
The betting info is also superb. Per Betting Pros, Seattle is -225, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.
GPP Recommendations:
Justin Verlander (HOU) vs. OAK
Verlander has outkicked his ERA estimators lately, owning a 3.41 ERA, 5.12 xFIP and 4.48 SIERA in his previous five starts, totaling 29.0 innings. The gap isn't ideal. Yet, his 109 Stuff+, 106 Location+ and 111 Pitching+ are reasons to believe he wasn't merely lucky.
Verlander can maintain his momentum tonight. The Athletics are 22nd in wRC+ (89) and have a 25.0 K% versus righties in 2023. Oakland is tied for 12th in wRC+ (104) but has a 24.8 K% in the previous 30 days. They're also tied for 21st in wRC+ (90) and have a 23.8 K% on the road this year. Lastly, Houston is -320, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
Sean Manaea (SF) vs. CLE
Manaea has massive home and road splits. He's a tire fire on the road. Yet, the veteran lefty has a 3.74 ERA, 3.68 xFIP, 1.09 WHIP, 8.1 BB% and 28.5 K% in 45.2 innings at home this year.
The visitors will offer him a desirable matchup tonight. The Guardians are 29th in wRC+ (81) versus lefties in 2023. Cleveland is 24th in wRC+ (90) and has a 20.3 K% in the previous 30 days. In addition, they're 20th in wRC+ (91) on the road this year. Thus, the Giants are -143, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
