Fantasy Football Trade Candidates: Derrick Henry, Alexander Mattison, Rhamondre Stevenson (Week 2)

The dust has settled after Week 1, and fantasy football managers are already looking to make savvy trades to improve their rosters. In this post, we’ll dive into some of the key insights from a recent video featuring Joe Pisapia and Andrew Erickson with guest Brian Drake and identify the running backs you should target or consider moving in your fantasy football league.

Jonathan Taylor (RB – IND)

Jonathan Taylor’s value is in flux due to an injury and potential trade rumors. He’s still weeks away from playing, and his health status remains unclear. Whether you should buy, sell, or hold Taylor largely depends on where you drafted him and your team’s needs. With running backs dropping like flies in fantasy football, there’s still a market for Taylor, given his potential upside once he returns to action. However, consider other options like Kenneth Walker III as a trade target for him.

On the flip side, if you have Taylor, it might be wise to hold onto him due to his potential trade value later in the season as well as his upside. Keep an eye on Alvin Kamara‘s return from ankle surgery, as it may affect Taylor’s role.

Alexander Mattison (RB – MIN)

Alexander Mattison had an underwhelming debut, failing to solidify himself as the go-to running back for the Vikings. Couple that with the Vikings’ offensive line dealing with injury issues, and it raises concerns about Mattison’s fantasy outlook. If you have Mattison, it’s advisable to sell him before Thursday to running back-needy teams. Despite being one of the most traded players after Jonathan Taylor, Mattison’s lackluster performance suggests he might not be worth the investment.

On the other hand, if you need a third running back or have excess wide receivers, Alexander Mattison could still be a viable option. His usage may increase due to the team’s poor offensive line and defense, making him likely to see more touches, especially in games where the Vikings are trailing. While he may not be in the same league as elite running backs like Alvin Kamara, Mattison can provide consistent, albeit unspectacular, production. In a choice between Mattison and other options like Isiah Pacheco or Rachaad White, Mattison’s reliability makes him a reasonable choice for depth.

Rhamondre Stevenson (RB – NE)

If you’re looking for a buy-low opportunity, consider Rhamondre Stevenson. He’s regarded as an elite player and arguably the best player on the Patriots’ offense. While he faced a tough matchup against the Eagles, Stevenson is expected to shine in upcoming games, especially against the Dolphins. His potential involvement in the passing game adds extra value, making this a prime window to acquire an elite player.

Derrick Henry (RB – TEN)

If you roster Derrick Henry, it might be worth considering selling high on him.

In Week 2, make calculated moves in your fantasy football league, whether it’s buying low on promising talents like Rhamondre Stevenson, holding onto valuable assets like Jonathan Taylor, or capitalizing on the trade value of players like Derrick Henry and Alexander Mattison. Your decisions now can set the tone for a successful fantasy football season.
